I am going to do a blog. I would like to steal the idea from the movie Jules and Julia, (I think thats the name) and take a particular chef and cooking one of their cookbooks from start to finish. The problem I'm having is deciding on what chef to do. If you were going to read a cooking blog where an entire cookbook was replicated and then reviewed, good job or bad by me, which well known chefs cookbook would interest you? I have 4 favorites and just cant make a decision. I'm hoping you guys can help me out..Thanks in advance..

I am doing a cooking blog this year along with my goal to make 100 new to me recipes this year. I could never do just one cookbook or chef, as I like to mix things up. Also, so many cookbooks are filled with meat recipes and I do not cook meat, but still often find some great non meat recipes that are not in the veggie books.

Hi antarcticpostcards I too see lots of great vegetarian dishes both in books and on tv. In this health conscious world we live in today, it sure makes healthy cooking a lot easier than it used to be. I love your goal of 100 new recipes. Tell us the name of your blog so we can take a look. Mine is still totally in the planning stage. I've never written a blog before and am doing alot of research as to how to drive traffic there etc. So much to know!! Thanks for your post and good luck with yours..

That sounds like fun! I would choose some kind of gourmet cooking book so that you would be making lots of different and unusual dishes.

I think you've received some great advice so far - picking a gourmet cook book would probably interest me more as a reader because I don't cook that way and wouldn't not where to start, so your blog would be helpful in that respect. I wish you luck in your new endeavor. I think you have a great idea.

Hi cutepenguin.. I agree with you guys..I was thinking of gourmet as well because its an area that is a little intimidating for home cooks. Its not that hard at all, believe me and if I can do it, so can anyone. I would really like to inspire people to cook and to have fun while learning. I subscribe to a couple of gourmet magazines, one thats been around for a million years, and might do that one. Its a name familiar to most and hopefully will spark some interest in my blog. The only problem I see with it is that ingredients in many of their menus can get costly and in these tough times we are all experiencing, it may be a problem. I guess I wont know if I dont try right?? Columbus took a chance!!! Thanks for your posts..

Wow! I think that is a very wonderful idea. There are so many popular chefs in the world and as you said you are choosing from four popular cookbooks. I think it would be good to choose the one you are more comfortable of when cooking all the recipes in the cookbook.

p3ks626 Thanks. Actually I was thinking more of cooking something unfamiliar to me as then it would not only be a learning experience for my readers but for me too. I'm thinking that gourmet cooking is going to be it as a couple of Mylotters suggested. I think everyone would like to be able to cook gourmet dishes but might be afraid to try. If I try and can report on it, maybe it will inspire others to try as well..
