Korean Series and Korean artists (actors, singers, etc) are very famous in East and South East Asia. In Thailand and the Philippines, they are always well recieved by fans and the like. High school students can be heard screaming, upon seeing their famous idol doing a performance.
I just wonder if Koreans are also that famous in other parts of thw world. Please do share.. Thanks

hi underdogy^^;;
i remember the first Korean drama series that was aired on local television dubbed in our local language got a very very high rating. after that, the other competing network tried to find another Korean series that would match the first one...and there, people in my country start to love and admire them...
the reason in my own opinion is that, we just wanted something new to the classic dramas plot and theme of our own country. in Korean dramas or movies, they have a lot of twist and the characters are not much so it's easy to identify who is who and who did what..it's not confusing. in Filipino drama, there are a lot and new characters suddenly popping in some episodes. if you noticed in K-dramas or movies, the characters that you see on the first part are also the characters you see till the end, there could be one or two added but that's it...
another is that there are really crazy scenes they do and reveal on the movies on which the viewer are amused..
im learning Korean right now so i kinda understand a bit of the conversation so the sound is no problem with me.
when i watch some on youtube or other free site, i can see followers from other countries like Spain where in the K-dramas are subbed into Spanish

Korean Drama in Europe? Cool!! Nice to hear you are learning Korean now. You may want to visit them someday eh? I kinda agree with you that Korean dramas do have twist of events that can really amuse the viewers. Other than that, i also noticed that it's kinda "what you see is what you get" type of plot. You won't be left hanging because it gives a clear presentation of things. Thanks for sharing..

Awww..So you are gonna be away from your family? Well, if it's because of work and if the pay is right, then go for gold hehe. Just like me, also away from family and friends huhu. Homesick at first but you will get the hang of it. First times are the most difficult sometimes. Anyhow, I'll check your link perhaps tomorrow. I am sleepy now. Adios!

so watching their films also helps apart from the fact that i do enjoy it. i like the way they curse but sounds so cute instead of rude...
well, im not really sure if it's really popular but really i can see some being subbed into spanish...
u might want to watch this as well, its like a sitcom episode...not sure...anyway funny

yeah, it is phenomenon in my country also. I like some of the tv series such as the great queen seondok, the jewel of the palace. I like to watch because it dubbing to my language so I understand the story. but for the song, I don't like, I do not understand.

Haha.. The dubbing, though OK for people to understand the language, still annoyed me sometimes because it's like a subtitle that doesn't match the opening of the lip. As for the song, some songs do have good rhythm. It's like a really phenomena now. I see you are from Indonesia..Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. Welcome to Mylot.
