I have a friend who is going through a tough family situation.
her parents have been married for almost 30 years, and her dad recently decided that he wanted a divorce. There is no third party, but he has decided that he has enough of her mother's insecurity and behaviour.
Her mom was quite shocked. whilst she knew that the marriage was not well, she didn't expect her husband to be so fixed in his decision to get a divorce. He has moved out within less than a fortnight of the announcement of the decision, and is pressurising her to sign the divorce papers.
She doesn't want to, but the most he has agreed to is one month's wait.
Even though she and her sibling are adults now, they are still finding it very tough to deal with the situation. Her mum attempted suicide a week ago, and they had to go to the hospital to deal with things there too.
I'm not sure what I can do except pray for her and her family. What would you do in my situation? Words seem like they won't help...

My best friends mother just left her father after being married for over 50 years....her father is a drunk so he has sank deeper into the drinking....the kids asked her why she waited so long....it's all a bad situation especially for your friend whose mother seem to be emotionally weak in the first place....she'll find resolution if they just stand by her.

Well, as an outsider, there's nothing much u can help.. Instead of pitying her mom, why dun they put themselves into the shoes of the father instead??
It;s never easy having to deal with insecurities, and to endure it for 30 years?? THat's way too much to bear, and even love has got its toll on humans.. I guess it must be something her mom had done, which pushed him to his limits..
MAybe, u shoould ask your fren's mom to talk to him instead, and know what's the root of insecurity..

Continuous prayer for your friend and her family is the best thing you can do at this moment. You are right that no words are enough in this kind of situation. Also being their for your friend in her time of need is also important. Just be positive for your friend. Every trial/problem, there is always a solution.
