Hi guys! Have you ever wondered if there really is CASH in TRASH? Well in my case, I have proven this several times already. And it is one of the reasons why I make it a point to segregate solid household wastes before disposing of them and turning them over to the garbage collector. Of course the primary reason is I want to contribute to the noble cause of minimizing solid wastes that are being dumped into landfills outside the metropolis which, in effect, contributes to environment degradation. Less volume of wastes means lesser solid waste management funding. Well as for turning trash into cash, I make it a point to collect tin cans, empty glass bottles, PET bottles, jars and what-have-you and bring these to the nearest junkshop. These items, which are still reusable and recyclable, will be paid by the kilo and presto, that's easy cash for you! So if you want to help minimize the volume of wastes that are being dumped into sanitary landfills while earning extra bucks, now is the time to segregate your wastes. http://www.mylot.com/?ref=bananarepublica

hi, bananarepublica. welcome to my lot. you have a good subject for discussion - segregation. well, for the last five or seven years, i have been segregating waste. and it gives me extra income. you see, before every kind of waste -- kithen waste, wrappers, boxes, cans, bottles, etc. -- go straight to the bin. when i started segregating, i also began to sort and collect the recyclables. aside from significantly reducing the volume of the waste garbagemen pick from my gate, i also had a little income from selling the recyclables, like cartoons, cans, bottles, even office wastepaper. before, it was only the bottles and the newspapers we sell to cart pushing junk buyers. now, a junkshop operator picks up the recyclables from my house with a small pickup truck and the money i get can pay for my water bill.

Although we have a system here where they collect garbage from house to house. I keep my garbage for me except solid waste which I use as filler material for light foundations as garden seats, etc the wet waste is used for compost which is used in my garden. The solid waste if I dont want is collected by those who come to the house. Thus I personally segregate my garbage but others do not do it.
