What does it take to make you have a good clean up?

I've spent most of the morning vacuuming, and had a good clean up of my office which is in the garage conversion. I've been telling myself to do that for ages but kept putting it off. Later today I'm having a visit from a friend who has not yet seen this new house. That's obviously what galvanised me today. Do you only get round to things when you're expecting visitors?

The fact that I have anxiety issues including OCD and can collect things and let them clutter and it starts to look like something that requires an intervention more than a clean up at times.
I'm working on it and do try to de-clutter regularly but you still might see me on Dr Phil some day...

I do simple cleaning everyday as I stay at home most of the time, but when there's an expected guest, I would do a spring cleaning hours before the guest arrives. I would do dusting and spraying air fresheners mostly:)
