Do you peek the last pages of the book you read just to know how it ends?

Well, I like reading novels, mostly thriller. Frankly speaking, I never peek on the last pages to find out the ending (the doer if it's mystery or murder case files novels). Yes, it took me quite a while to read the whole pages (especially if the novel is thick), and I'm not saying that I'm not curious at all during reading. Yet, I strive hard NOT to peek a single page on the last pages because I know if I did that, it would ruin the pleasure of the reading. What's the use of reading the whole pages if I already know how it would end? No, that's not what I want. Well, what do you think of this? Do you peek the last pages of the book you read just to know how it ends? Let me know what you think.

Sometimes if it is a long book and it's a very good one, yeah, I peek at the ending just to see if the character I'm rooting for wins or loses. I don't read the whole ending or I might as well not finish the book, but it is good to know sometimes that the book ends in a way that makes you want to finish it. Once in a while I come across a really good book and as bad as I wanted to know the ending, am sad that I finished it, wishing there was more.

i think i've done it. in the past, i liked reading all kinds of novels, such as love novels, haha...i would peek some pages to know the end before i read it through. but now, i think i wont, if so, there is no desire/hope for me to go on reading it.

When I was younger I did sometimes read the last page before I was finished with the book. I don't do that now though, it's much more fun to read it the whole way through :)

Hi jofeli!^^ Me too, as much as possible I don't peek into the last page no matter how I'm curious on how the story would end. I also don't want to ruin the surprise. It's better if I'm thinking of my own ending and getting surprised in the last page if the ending turns out differently. I also like reading thriller and suspense novels and it just really makes me so curious and impatient.^^;; But I don't like knowing the ending without knowing first how did it happened. You're right, what's the use of reading the whole novel if you already know the ending. And besides, I also like the feeling of hanging on the edge while reading the book. ^^

No way! Books often reveal a twist at the last pages, so, I will try and try to guess the ending but never peak until I truly reach the last pages .

Don't envy me, yet - I actually stay up until dawn just to finish the book . Have you read Harry Potter's Goblet of Fire? Well, I finished that in a day - from around 9 a.m. to 4 a.m.

I'm glad to hear I am not the only one in my curious habit. I especially did this in school so I could make myself sound like a genius because I was able to predict the ending before anybody else

Once upon a time I simply could not resist. It made the story more interesting for me. It certainly did not spoil it for me. Mostly I found it made no difference because the story was so well told. Sometimes I would just be curious to see the outcome first...I wonder why I do that?

No, as much as I wanted, I don't want to peak, What is the surprise if I peak. I will not feel the story if I peak. When I am reading a very interesting books I want to read it by words. I want my imagination to crawl. I want to really understand the story. Peaking is like cheating. You will not enjoy what you read if you will peak.

Yes, I like to know the end. I still read the book, because I like to read what happens in between. Knowing the end does not bother me, because there is a story in between the beginning and the end. The same purpose for reading the end, is the same purpose for reading the whole book, to see what happens. Happy posting.

Yes, I have to admit I do this sometimes. I never used to do this, but I think I've just become more impatient recently! I hate doing it because it does kind of spoil the rest of the book, but it's hard to resist. Maybe subconsciously I'm aware that I don't have much time for reading, so maybe if I find out what's going to happen I can get onto the next book I want to read.... I know that's a terrible attitude to have and I'm kind of ashamed of it. I have to stop doing it!!

I never peek at the last page of a novel, unless I suspect I've read it before.

Normally I wouldn't peek at the last pages as it would spoil the climax of the story. But when the book i'm reading seems to have a dragging plot, I would fast forward to the end just to look if it's worth reading every page.

no! that is a big no-no for me... i totally agree with you, i found it useless to read the whole book when you know how it ends. it would just ruin the whole purpose and of course, the excitement of knowing hoe it would end. reading the book with the knowledge of the ending just make me lose all my interest in the book at all. that is why i never watch a movie if a know it has a book... nor would i read the book if i have already watched the movie.

I was reading a book, and my favorite KIND of book - a time travel story - and I was not enjoying it. I was about half way and really frustrated with it so I did something I've almost never done - I looked at the last page. HUH? How on EARTH did the writer get from where I was to the last page? I read another page back... HUH? So, I gave up and finished the book. Having read the book I knew how and why and it made sense for those last few pages I could NOT recommend it tho - and HAPPILY I have forgotten the name - but not the PLOT! When I finished the book someone asked if they should read it. I said - "don't waste your time" and I don't think she'd ever heard me say that about a book I finished. she asked why and I explained why... that why idea was good, but the "hero" was a jerk, the plot thin and most of the time you just wanted to take a bat to almost everyone! Honestly, the only one I wanted to know about was dumped about a third of the way in and while you met a few others that were likable, the lead was so disgusting you just wanted to bury him in a landslide (or a mine cave in as the case may be!)

That would mean cheating for me. What's the use of reading the contents if you already knew how it would end right. Maybe that's why God never meant us to see the future because he wanted to us to live our lives to the fullest. It's the suspense that keeps us living. If we knew that someday we will be successful, would we still strive hard in life? I don't think so.

i like to peek the last pages of the book, because i want to know the ends.i think that the results is important for me.although the process is interesting and make me want to know what happen further, but i want to know the ends.sometimes it like the human's fate, when he do for something and make effort,of course he want to gain success.so it become important reason to interest me to know the ends.when i know the ends,i would still continue to read it.the process is not lost the part of book,it make me notice the character's fate change in the process.

No! I don't peek at all. That would be spoiling the fun. :-) I like to keep myself in suspense, especially since I'm so fond of legal thrillers and police detective and crime stories. I never experienced being tempted to peek because if I do, there will be nothing to look forward to in the story.

I used to read the last page of the books I would read, but it never really did much good for me anyway. Most of the time the last page wouldn't really make sense with anything that was currently going on in the story. It never really spoiled anything for me.

A lot of times I was tempted to do that especially when the plot thickens and the excitement motivates me to see what comes out of a certain situation. Yes, I am admitting but that is how you also know, when and how a certain situation came about and how one situation leads to another, even before you hit the final end. It makes me feel like you are a part of the story and knowing the end, before you go through the complete process, makes you really think while reading... hhaha, strange me, I guess!
