I have observed a sudden growth of Old Age homes in India. Years back I read that most of the developed countries as well as communist countries have more old Age Homes. The reason is that in these countries the aged are considered as a liability and the grown up children have no attachment with the Aged. So they will send their parents to the Old Age Home. I think in India also changing very fast on these lines that may be the reason for the growth of Old Age Homes ????

I think reasons for the sudden growth of home for the old or aged are changes in life's situations. There are more old people than younger ones since most couple who are in child-bearing ages tend to have children much much later in life. Or people tend to be single or not going to have babies. Also younger people have changed their attitudes or views in caring for the elderly. To them these people are burdens in their life. Also it gives jobs to thousands of health care practitioners and mushrooming schools for health related courses.

You are right india is changing very fast, morals are decreasing day by day, people started to become practical even with their own parents, but i believe that in certain extent parents are also responsible, they think that their son is their asset, they do not make saving for their own life,& even all the property of their own, they distribute among their children. Even i feel bad for those parents who are forced to live in old age home.
