I was going through my old books when I came across Kafka's Metamorphosis. I first read this story when I was in college and while my fellow classmates were stuck on why the main character transformed into a bug I was horrified by his family's reaction to him. When I flicked through the pages of the story I started to understand my classmates reactions. They were terrified by the idea of being in the protagonists shoes, and possibly were trying to figure out the "why's" in order to avoid them, not that they'd one day wake up and be large bugs, only that the thought horrified them enough to ignore reality. Now bug transformation aside, I am particularly curious about other's reaction to a possible Metamorphosis. What would you be most horrified to turn into? It doesn't have to be a bug, it can be anything, an animal, a different person, invisible, you but with a different personality. Would your biggest fear be the actual transformation, or the reaction of your loved ones to that transformation? How do you think they would react?

Is there one specific characteristic about your personality that would definitely horrify you? For me, if my personality were to suddenly change the scariest thing for me would either to become heartless/greedy or completely oblivious to other peoples emotions and suffering.

What do you think would be the most chaotic shift your family would experience if your personality were to suddenly change?
