Treatment of boys

I have watched as some parents have trained their sons to be strong and to never allow emotions to get in the way. Society has many different words for a boy who appears to not be manly enough, such as sissy. Do you think it is a good idea to force boys to keep their emotions to themselves? Let me clarify what I am asking, I am asking whether you think it is good to train boys to always be strong and not allow them to express emotions like we allow girls to? Is this somehow useful to society? Can you think of any drawbacks to this type of practice? On one hand, I think it is wrong to make boys feel bad when they cry or feel over emotional because I don't consider it to healthy to excessively restrict emotions. On the other hand, I worry how badly a boy would be treated by others if he were allowed the right to show his emotions as much as or a often as a girl.
