Do you only talk to God when you need something?

I was just wondering what blessings has everyone else have to say thank you to God! I talk to God about anything and everything daily I like my talks with God. No God don't answer me or say anything to me. But I was brought up just talking to God. I do pray when I really need something but not just then. I have a lot to be thankful for daily. I have a nice home a great husband a pretty good pal in my dog. I don't really need much but I like to have what I want too. I put a dress on ebay and it sold today and so I have another reason to be thankful for. These are just some of the reasons I talk to God and say thank you. So I was wondering what others had to say thank to God for? Do you pray only when you need or want something? Do you stop and say thank you for all of Gods blessing?

Everyday, I always talked to God especially in my prayers to thank God. There are just so much things to thank the Lord, the blessings that he bestowed upon me and my family, the food that we eat, the good health and safety that God has provided. I also praised God by way of singing some songs to God. Other than that, there are just so many things and lessons that you can really relate and apply in your daily life when reading the Bible. But what really pushed me through in reading the bible is the opportunity to talk to God. Yes, I have learned that when we read the Bible, it is already like talking or communicating to him. What a great privilege!!

Hi Braveheart it is a great privilege to talk to God. I love your outlook on how to talk to God. It is great that you feel like reading your bible and talking to God. I thank God for all the blessings HE has bestowed upon me. God has been a great part of my life. I would be in a worse place if God hadn't heard my prayers. I prayed for the husband I now have and God gave him to me. And I thank God for it!

Talking to God is very wonderful phen omenon and those who are fully involed in that process with pure heart can easily achieve that process and rest of the time is some body is thinking that i am going to speak to God that is just a illusion.the man with pure and satisfied heart can talk to God ..so what he will demand to God?

Hi Codeofuniverse. I am so sorry it took me so long to respond. I know that there is a great God in heaven and I speak to God all the time. I know that God isn't standing right here talking to me but I do talk to God. We can all speak to God HE will hear what ever we say but HE may not answer. And if HE does answer it may not always be yes sometimes God may say no.What ever Gods will is is fine with me I am happy with what I have and I wouldn't have any of it if it hadn't been for Gods blessings.

I don't talk to him when I need something, I talk to him all of the time. When I pray, I usually pray for others more than myself..like my cousin going through cancer, and things like that. I believe in saying Thank You each and every night for all the kindnesses through the day, or something new I learned. I thank him for getting me over my own bout with cancer, and keeping me cancer free, and for having a roof over my head and food to eat. To me, when I do ask him for help, it's for giving me the wisdom to make the right choices, or say the right thing. I was brought up 'talking to God' too, and to be thankful to Him for all the wonderful things he has done and given us.

I only mainly talk to god by praying right before I'm about to go to sleep. That way I can thank him for all the beautiful things that happened to me in the day. I like to thank him for my family, friends, and for everything I've been blessed with.
I don't really ask God for a lot of things though.

I give my thanks to GOD everyday, when i woke up in the morning,every before and after meal,and before going to bed.
I asked him for guidance for my family especially for my husband who's working far from us to provide our daily needs.
I always pray to him my heart desires, and always give thanks for all of the blessings and wisdom.
I thanks God for all of what he had done.

First things i always remember my Allah/god.
And also after finsh my eating i remember my Allah when i am so happy as i got anything whatever i want and when i am in any trouble.

No, i don't think that. But many people will think like that way. God is a symbol only. God is invisible, it's a secret... and there are many people who hope. If there is no hope there is no life. Life stands on hope.People are living tomorrow.There's hope are for future. Hope are always running ahead of people.For hope and to get something people are running after the name of god. To make life happier.

I do not believe in god, so I don't even try to talk to him.
