The only thing I didnt like about being the only child is having to play bymyself. That is why I have 4kids. I didnt want them to feel the lonliness I did. I understand why my parents didnt have more. They are expensive.

I'm not an only child but I only have one child myself and I sure hope my son will never resent me for it. I don't think you have any right to resent your parents for not wanting more children. Maybe they didn't want to have more because hey wanted to give you all the best they could and felt they couldn't afford to support more children.

I didn't say they did a bad job at parenting, I just feel it's a little selfish of them to deny me the joy of a brother or sister.

I am also the only son of my parents but I dont resent them for this. I asked them once about this and they said, one should have that many children who could be easily afforded, could be better educated, could be better brought up and could be better settled. I think they have done all this for me. I feel they are right to a great extent.

ok, maybe resent is a little to much. I love my parents dearly and they gave me a wonderful childhood. For me personally, I feel like I missed out on the whole sibling thing. I see my friends with their siblings and my own kids with eachother. The bond they have is something I will never get to experience.
They do fight and get sick of each other but they will always be there for one another.
I have talk to other people who are only children and most of them would rather have had a brother or sister.
