Do you remember Bonanza that ran during 1959-1973? Pernell Roberts played Adam Cartwright for the first 6 years and after that, he bowed out of Bonanza. He was the eldest son of Ben Cartwright, played by Lorne Greene. The other sons were Dan Blocker who played Hoss, and Michael Landon who played Little Joe. Roberts died at at his home in Malibu from cancer, his wife said. I had not heard that he was sick, but then, I haven't heard of him in years. But Bonanza was a program we watched every week. It was one you could sit your kids in front of the TV to watch and not have to worry about what was going to be said of shown. It was truly a family program.

I don't remember watching Bonanza with Pernall Roberts as Adam Cartwright. He had left the show by the time I started watching as a kid. I watched that show until it went off the air in 1973. If I remember it was on sunday night. It sure was a show you could sit down with the kids and both would einjoy it! They don't make shows like Bonanza anymore! I do remember Pernell Robert in the medical show Trapper John MD that aired I think in the 1980's. I have seen Pernell Roberts as Adam Cartwright in reuns of Bonanza over the years!

I remember him in Trapper John MD, which started in 1979. But it never caught on with me like Bonanza. I love the reruns! Most of the programs that were aired back then were better shows and much more family-oriented than the majority you see today. I sit with my 92 year old mother during the day and we watch lots of reruns, but so far, they haven't put on Bonanza on that particular channel. This week, we've seen lots of Beaver!

Yes, I was saddened to hear of his passing. I thought I had been keeping up with him, but I had not heard that he had cancer. I was shocked to hear that he was 81 years old. That is only 5 years younger than my Dad. I had always believed that he was a little closer to my age than my Dad's!!! To make it an extra sad event, he was the ONLY Cartwright still living. I also enjoyed his Trapper John, MD series!!!

I didn't realize he was that old, either. But I guess we lose touch as we grow older of the ones that seemed just a little older than we were when we watched the programs. But, in reality, they were all much older than we were.
