How do you e-mail a person who you promised to keep in touch with but failed?

My friend introduced me to a famous translator in China several months ago. In the end of our meeting, I promised him that I will call him to get suggestions from him about teaching English. But in the last months, I moved to another place and had no time to call him. Now I want to send him an e-mail for apology, but I don't know how to start my e-mail. Does anybody have a same experience before? What can I do?

It's really not difficult, Captain. Just say you're sorry it's been so long, but you're glad to be in touch again, and take it from there. Most people understand the ways in which life interferes with our best intentions sometimes...

Hi captainjulier;
Failing to fullfill the promise to contact somebody is something that happens to us all at sometime in our lives. And I'm sure it has happened to your chinnese translator too, so don't fret, and just let him know that althought it took you a while you did not forget your promise, he'll understand. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to overcome your fear. If he rejects your approach, just go on with your life, somebody else will come around that will help with those english classes.

Well just say Hi, then explain the reason why you failed to keep in touch at the end, apologize, for sure he would appreciate your apology. Happy mylotting...
