I left my hometown many years ago.It's also been many years since I've visit it.I haven't been back because pretty much everyone I knew is gone.The last time I was there,I imagined myself riding my bike around from when I was a child.I probably wouldn't want to live there now because it has changed alot and isn't the same as it used to be.Do you live in your hometown?

Ya, most of the people leave their home town either for higher education or high paying Job in foreign countries. If home town is proper city then this happens very rarely, but if it is just a small town or village then people leave it as early as possible in the hope of earning more.

I am currently living in my beautiful and nature loving hometown. I am in Davao City, Philippines and I enjoy the sights and sounds of nature here. My area is great for meditation and zen exercises intended to relax and rejuvenate the tired human soul. I love being in my hometown and I plan to work here as well.

I left my hometown when I was 15 years old. I entered a normal school about two hours bus drive away and I was admited in a university after 3 years which is even farther. It took me about 8 hours to go there by train. After my graduation, I found a job in another city where I am living. I do not go back to my hometown so often due to the busy work. I miss my family and friends. I am trying to find a job in my hometown but there are not so many opportunities for me. Hope things will change in future.

Hi Java09, we are always looking forward, although these things happened in childhood occupy our minds. Like you say, in some cases, we can't live in the same condition like our childhoods, because every thing is changing.
Last year when I backed hometown, I was regarded as a stranger for my hometown. Most of my friends in my childhood are working, living in another places, the new residents didn't recognize me; The places we used to play in were occupied by houses, markets, bus stations or something others, I can recall my memory about these loving and funny playground, but indeed they all changed; finally the life style of my hometown isn't fit me now, for kids no worry about the money but for adult I have to feed family, so eventually I choose to leave, although this is my hometown, the splended life in my childhood belongs to there, but I can't back just like I can't make the time backward.

I still live with my hometown. I haven't move since my hometown is a city.I still live in here since I don't have places to go. I have on my study for the second time around and I'm going to stay in here till I finish it.
After my stud, I don't know where I am going, maybe I stay here and look for a jog and raise a family, or I'll try mu luck abroad,if so, maybe in South Korea.
My sister is already there,but I prefer to stay here,if given the chance of having a huge salary in my future job and raise a family.

Hello Java,
An interesting topic. No, I do not live in my hometown. I presently live about 30 minutes away from there. Your post prompted me to ponder another line of thought.
Though I have travelled across the world and frequently, my home address(es) over the years have really never been more than an hour away from my birthplace. It happens to be a small city/town that has seen it's share of drastic socio-economic downturn.
From a family perspective, there are literally (2) family members that still live there. I have recently reflected that other than them and the debatable point of sticking close in order to act in a manner of contributing ('giving back'); there is really not much to HOLD me here in this area or region, for that matter.
To add another twist, I will be undergoing surgery in several days, and for immediate (post - op)recovery sake, I will stay at the home of one of the family members for a few weeks. This will be an interesting experience too, for I have not stayed IN the town for more than a couple decades.
Hahaha! I suppose that it could be said that the LONGEST journey is often a SHORT distance away?
Take care,
dj.

Ever since the age of 16 i would move away from my hometown to different states. Run into hard times and move back awhile. Then move away again. Rarely visiting there while im not living there. My home state is very cold most of the years so i do not like it. All my family is there. my mother, aunts, sister, brother, nieces and nephews and their kids. The state i live now my kids and grendkids are here. I call this home and will never move back again. I may visit again one day. But i havent been there in 12 years.

Hometown is somewhere can rise my homesick.
I had been away from my hometown since my college time, I was born in that village and lived there for over twenty years, my parents and most of my relatives live there now.
how can everything get rid of my mind? sometimes I dreamed the activities in my hometown, I'm young in my dreams, I love to play with my playmates!
Let's cherish all our old memerries for as long we can taste them again.

I live in my hometown. I left for a few years to go experience the world, but came back. My family is here and my friends and I like the city, so why not make it home? Now I have a son and he gets to see his grandparents and great grandparents every week because they live close and I think that is pretty cool. It has changed a lot since I was a kid, but for the most part, I lived here during the changes, so it doesn't seem so drastic.

Of course, my friend. Fortunately, I live in my hometown where I was born. I feel so happy, comfortable and peaceful here which I never feel living in any other place. This is very neat and clean place. My love and affection for this place haw grown in so much extent, I easily don't want to stay in other places, let alone abroad for better income. I love my country and love my hometown very much. Well, the name of my hometown is Kushtia and the name of its district (borough) is also Kushtia. In a country, we find that the language people speak in is pronounced in a different accent which is a bit distorted from the original mother-tongue. But the dialect of Kushtia is exactly the same of out mother-tongue (Bangla, the language of Bangladesh) which is the original and undistorted form of Bangla language. That's why the dialect of Kushtia is much adored and we get much respect from the people of other places of Bangladesh. I pray to Allah so that He may turn my hometown into a very progressive one. Moreover, it's a very cool and peaceful place. Good luck!

I like in the city next to my hometown and I don't go there much at all. I found that most of my school friends had either moved out or married each other! The ones that moved out of town usually went overseas or to another province, nit many have just moved into the city like me. Not much seems to change and it seems a bit depressed out there. Its only a town.

Yes, I still do live in my hometown. This is where I was born and since then I never change residence. When I get married my husband and I opted to buy a house within this same hometown of mine. I think I am not living this place anymore. It is the best place for me. It is safe and it has been giving me a comfortable stay.

from the senior middle school, i havent lived in my hometown. but i went back to my hometown every year, once or twice, or more times every year.
in order to earn more money outside, or for the career, i live far from my hometown. in fact, if i have enough money, i'd like to live there, a beautiful and green place.

Nope, I guess I won't be seeing any time soon either. My dad is leaving our town and is going to live out east. But the place hasn't changed at all from when I was girl aside from a few businesses leaving.

Hi Java,
It is five years since from my graduation. After that, I worked in another city and travelled a lot, but I will go back home if the festival or holiday is coming. Sometimes I will feel insecure just like a duckweed floating on the sea. I am wondering where I will flow to for the next place.

My experience is similar to you!
Accurately to say, i left my hometown about 1999,when i was only a twenty-year-old boy.To go to my junior school.My school is not very far form hometown,about one hour's road by bike.But i can only go back home every four weeks;
Three years later,i went to my senior school.It is a little far comparing to the junior school,about one hour's road by bus,And i can only go back home every six months;
Three years later again,i went to my university,it is about thirty hunderand kilometers form my hometown and i went home every one year,when the Spring Festival is coming.
Now i am a master,many things need to be done and i am very busy and having less chance to go home,but i'm more and more homesick!
Miss my family and bless them!
