and one who has a heavy midsection.Firstly let me say no offence to a woman with some midsection. Its just my friend and I were driving in his car and I saw a woman who I thought was just big around the midesction and had a tummy but he said no ,cant you see that woman was a few months pregnant. He then launched into a scientific explanation about how her tummy would have been shaped differently .Needless to say it didnt help and I am more confused nwo than ever .I do know that I have been seeing what I think are a lot of pregnant woman lately and as a result I am begining to think there is merrit to his therory .
So maybe you could clarify the situation for me

Your friend is better at this than I. I can only tell when a woman is 5-9 months pregnant. By then her tummy is either sticking out or has a wide roundness but it is right in the middle.

I can't really tell the difference. It has happened to me to say as a joke "how long have you been pregnant?" and the person answering back "6 months". And I was only thinking that said person was fat!

The first thing to remember is never, ever ask a woman whether she is pregnant, just in case she is not! You can usually tell the difference because a pregnant tummy is somewhat firmer and rounder but if a woman is large or obese anyway it can be difficult to tell. When I fell pregnant I only weighed 48 kilos so I presumed it would be easy to tell my stomach was a pregnant one, yet I had the smallest baby and I didn’t start to show until I was five months or so and by the eighth month instead of looking like an expectant mother I just looked as though I was getting very fat! Quite disappointing really...

Hello my friend ronnyb Ji,
Well, without hurting anyone specially Ladies members here, I would say that very near conmclusion can only be drawn by experienced old mother/grand-mother around. But scientifically, exact portion bulzing out may be the cause for tummy out. But I kow personally two cass in my family, who never show any symtoms upto last month. They conceal in such a a way taht no one can make out. Tummy out is never 100% pregrency.
May God bless You and have a great time.

It can honestly be quite difficult to tell the difference in some situations. When I was pregnant with my daughter I never looked pregnant until a week before she was born. Even looking at the pictures that were taken the day before she was born I really didn't look pregnant, I just looked fat. Now, with my son it was clear that I was pregnant as my belly was twice as prevalent as it usually is. That said, with a woman that you aren't sure about, I would err on the side of caution.

I dont' think the average person has the ability to tell in some rare examples such as overweight. Normally, it is quite obvious when you run across a pregnant woman but some who are overweight it is quite difficult to tell. You aren't alone. Don't worry.

It is sometimes hard to tell if we are going to base only with the shape of the midsection. However, the only difference is the way a pregnant woman moves. She is more careful with her steps, her moves are gentle and she usually hold her tummy as if she want to protect the baby.

If a woman is only a few months pregnant, it really may be hard to tell. There does tend to be a certain shape once she gets to 5 or 6 months or so, but it is possible for women to have large stomach areas without being pregnant. Also, a woman who has recently given birth may still "look" pregnant weeks later. Most women take offense if you ask them if they are pregnant when they are not, so as a general rule, you NEVER ask a woman if she is pregnant, unless she is actually giving birth. :)

the difference is when a woman pregnant she became hungry at all time because she have new life inside her tummy. the reason is the baby on her tummy is also eating thats why when a woman became pregnant she became hungry at all times.

the difference? i only think that if a woman have been pregant, she will be more careful and want to protect her body. and general speaking, her family had like to company with her rather than let her alone. of course, if a person who is too fat to be unhealthy, and so extremely careful that looks like a pregnant.i have no idea.

It's really difficult to tell the difference between them, especially a women pregnant within 12 wks. But this is a normal situation...I think it is basic social attitude to give one's seat to a pregnant woman on bus or subway, so if you are a fat woman and someone give his seat to you, you should not be embrassed, just tell him "thanks, I'm just too fat". After all, social culture is improved by giving seats....

Easy way to avoid eating your shoe, don't assume, ever. If they want you to know they will mention it. Plus, there is a glow about a woman who is pregnant, also, they will talk about it. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

not really for me...
i mean sometimes they all look the same. I mean even if a lady was big, that doesn't mean that she might not be pregnant. Or she might not be too "late" into her pregnancy.

So far, I've always been right. Usually the pregnant women are standing a certain way that says they're pregnant not heavy.

The tummy of a pregnant woman looks different from that of a non pregnant woman who has a pooch. For the pregnant woman, the shape is somewhat rounded and firm, while that of a woman with a pooch will produce tummy rolls, and usually soft, while that of a pregnant woman will not.
A pregnant woman's tummy has the linea nigra, a dark line found in the center of her abdomen near the belly button. The abdomen is firm because the uterus is getting bigger just to accomodate the fetus.

It depends. Some people it is easy to tell they are pregnant and some people can be nine months pregnant and you still cant tell if they are pregnant or not.

for a women whos very far along in her pregnancy it's pretty easy to tell. To be on the safe side never congratulate a women for expecting unless you know for sure she's pregnant. I know a few women who you might think are pregnant but who's bellys just protrude quite a bit and I know one of them has been congratulated on her non existent pregnancy.
Awkward.
