there are several definations of religion but we never satisfied by the word religion. According to George Hegel:"the knkowledge possed bythe finite mind of its nature as absolute mind" Alfred North Whitehead:"what the individual does with his own solitariness". William James:"the belief that there is unseen order, and that our supreme good lies in harmonyiously adjusting ourselves thereto" Scott Hatfield :Religion is"a behaviour ,process or structure whose orientation is at least partially supernaturel" the term Dharma[religion] is Indian spiritual and religious term that means ones righteous duty ,or any virtuous path

Hi codeoffuniverse, There is a great deal of difference between spirituality and religion. I think of religion as a set of rules, pageantry, ceremonials and rituals. Religions often think that their way is the only way and work hard to convert others to what they see as the truth. It has been defined by some as a system of beliefs and practices that relate to the sacred and uniting it's adherents in a community. Those who are spiritual tend to believe that all religions of the world have the basic necessities, and feel that living in harmony with and helping others are what this life is all about. Ceremony and rituals mean little to such people. Blessings.

I believe that the word religion has a different meaning or definition to most everyone, to me it is my belief in what i think to be real and right, i have no specific religion for who am i to say what is wrong or not, i tend to follow what was given to me at conseption, and my concious...hopefully thats enough.

Hello Code My personal thought is that religion is a group of people with the same or similar belief system who "names" themselves and adopt the same principles and practices of a faith. Though I am a Christian, so many Christian "religions" are in disagreement, that I have come to consider myself more spiritual that of a particular brand of religion. Karen

Oh, something else I wish to add. It is my observation that all "religions" tend to be made by man, where true faith and spirituality are from God.
