Will it really hurt you to slow down?

Yesterday there was a car accident a couple of houses down from mine. Luckily, no one was hurt, but one of the trucks involved was torn up pretty badly. There was debris strewn everywhere. Because of that, people had to move over into the middle lane meant for turns to avoid running it over. It was a mess.
One driver came by and slowed down as he passed the wreck. The guy behind him laid on his horn. As soon as there was just enough space, he whipped around the front car, throwing wreckage up into the air and nearly taking off the front car's rear bumper! I found this to be absolutely ridiculous! There were still people walking around the accident, including the drivers, police, firefighters, and EMTs. Not only could that impatient driver have run one of them over, the debris he threw up from under his tires could have seriously hurt someone.
So, what about you guys? When you see someone on the side of the road, whether it be from a wreck, someone broken down, a cop, construction workers, or anyone else, do you slow down and/or move into another lane?
I'll admit that I have driven pretty crazy before. For example, when someone I cared about was in the Emergency Room. However, I still take care to try and make sure no one else ends up there! If someone is close to the road, I slow down a bit depending on just how close they are and I always move over if another lane is available.
