Gissi has been to the Vet

And as Ill as he is he still managed to cause havoc in there as soon as he had the other Dogs barking he just sat there and looked innocent
The Verdict is that yes Gissi is pretty sick, his Heart was irregular but the Vet seems to think it is more due to the Stress he is going through
They believe it is his Chest and throat, they think that his chest is inflamed and that something in his throat his closing his airways that is why he is wheezing snoring and grunting every time he sniffs or breathes
He has had an Injection and has been put on Medication to but......he has to go in and be put under to have Chest Xrays done and a Pipe put down his throat to see what they can find and know what they are dealing with, they are concerned about putting him under because of his Heart but it has to be done
I am very scared at this moment, my Mind is in muddle so please bear with me, I will ask the Vet that I can be there when Gissi wakes up, with him being a rescue Dog he will be scared to wake up in a cage and all the other Pets around him,
The Vet asked me did I know any of his Background, so I told her what I knew, how he was found half beaten to Death by the Police and taken to the Kennel
The Believe now is, as he has always snorted a bit, that there could have been some damage done to him inside when beaten by his previous owner or who ever had done it and it is now surfacing
It is going to cost me a Fortune but I will find it as I am not letting the little Fellow go and I will be with him
Thank you all for your Thoughts and well wishes as soon as I know when this will be happening I shall let you all know but I know it will be soon
Please please keep him in your Thoughts
Big Hugs

I know everyone here is in tears and we're all hoping for the best. Most of us, I'm sure, know just how you're feeling right now and our hearts go out to you. Thank you Lily he is sleeping now I guess it is due to the Injection the Vet did say I have to keep him as calm as possible which is hard with him as he is full of life most the time not to much at the moment so that is good
Thank you Lily for caring enough to reply here

I really hope so Cloud, I am so scared right now
I have to keep him calm, as he does still have his excited moments not as often but he does, one of the Tablets will help keeping him calm
I miss his wild and mischievous moments but I am confident or trying to be that my baby will be back to normal soon
You do not worry to much do you hear and I hope you are ok
Big Hugs to you also from your little Nephew Gissi who as you know loves you very much like I do

Bless you for taking such good care of poor Gissi, after he was so mistreated by previous owners. It is disgusting what some people do to animals, and they deserve to have the same thing happen to them - I believe Karma will pay a visit to them someday. My little Rosie was rescued too, and shows signs of having been abused even to this day - some of the fears never leave them, much like Gissi would be afraid waking up in a cage - I can really relate to that. Just take it one day at a time, and my prayers are with you for Gissi's recovery.

I had only a few minutes ago responded to your discussion about Gissi being very ill, then I found this.
Im pleased that some progress has been made with Gissi. At least the vet has a fair idea about what is going on. Dogs do get things caught in their throats, and it is a nuisance they have to be operarted onto find it. As you say the anasthetic is the dangerous part.
It is very good that the vet will let you be there when he wakes up. I bet our vet wouldnt allow that.
I know it will cost you heaps. My cat had to have eye treatment a couple of years ago and it cost me $1000.
Good luck.

I think it is an excellent idea for you to be there when he wakes up. With his history, waking up in a strange place alone could be very scary for him. That would just make his stress worse. The vet may be very right about damage from a previous incident being the cause of current problems. Please give Gissi a hug and a kiss from me. Let him know I will be thinking happy thoughts for him as he goes through this procedure.

Oh gabs, I am so sorry that Gissi is so sick! I have been through illnesses with my pets and I know how scary and heart breaking it can be. I will say some prayers for him and I sincerely hope that he will be okay. One of my cats had a heart murmur and he lived with it for a really long time so it can be managed as I hope Gissi’s can too. Poor little mite it sounds as though he's been through enough! Right now you must trust the vet, pray and be there for your ‘little man’. Please keep us posted because you both will be in my thoughts. Good luck and...Hang in there!
