Driving someone else's car...

I don't know if it's just me but I always feel really uncomfortable with driving someone else's car. I always end up thinking about all these bad things that can happen to mess up the car. A fine example would be yesterday. I was driving my boss's jeep and I could not help but feel really awkward. Part of it was probably because the car belonged to my boss and I would seriously be in deep trouble if anything happened to it. My ten minute drive felt like an eternity. But then, I feel the same way when I'm driving my brother's truck. It's strange, I shouldn't be feeling uncomfortable with it since I used to drive it all the time but I just can't help it. I think it's due to me thinking that it doesn't belong to me or something. So, I was just wondering if anyone else feels that way too? Or are you really comfortable with driving other people's cars?

Ha Ha! That is too funny. I feel the same way, atleast I'm not the only one. I've had a couple family members recently get brand new cars and came by my home to show them off. They asked me if I wanted to give it a test drive around the block and I said no. My husband asked me why I didn't want to. I kept on just saying oh it's okay, you drive babe, I'll go with you and check the inside of the car out, lol. He kept making jokes and telling me that I was acting like I didn't know how to drive and I've been driving for years. I too have that thought in the back of my mind or feel like it would be my luck I'd hit their brand new car or something dumb happen while I'm driving.

I actually felt that way too when I first bought my new car. I was so jittery whenever I drove it around because I was afraid that I'd do something and wreck it. That lasted for months until I felt comfortable with the car.

No, it's not just you! I feel the same way too. It's just always made me uncomfortable driving somebody elses car. I'd always worry because lots of things I'm used to in my own car might be in different places in a different car. I had to drive and follow my daughter in her one car this one day. She laughed because every time I'd go to put it in gear I'd reach for the gear knob in the place it would be in MY car. Mine was on the steering column, and her's was on the middle console; my wipers control was on the left with the blinkers, and hers was on the right on a separate thing. Just those kinds of thing can make a person a tad nervous lol. When I get a new car for myself, it takes a few days to get used to the changes of everything, and driving somebody elses car gives the same feeling of uncertainty.

Haha...I know how that it. I do it all the time whenever I drive my brother's truck. It's a lot different than driving my Accord. I always have to step harder on the gas to get the truck going which is really weird because I barely have to tap my gas pedal. I also hate messing with the settings for the radio and such in other people's cars because some are such a stickler for that.

Well, I don't like to drive someone's car though it's my friend's. I feel like it's his property. Except, when my freinds got drunk then that's the time. But one reason I don't like to drive someone's car, is that I never crash anything since I've ever driven car but when my friend ask me favor to move his car into his park lot and I scratched his car. It really upset me, you know, like my record was collaped or it became a history of my driving....

That would be a bad experience for anyone, I think. Only once and you already mess up is not a promising thing. I would be weary of trying it again too.

I feel the same way. I don't feel that way if I am driving a rental car, but I do if I'm driving someone else's car. I had to drive my boss's car one time too and I felt the same way you did. I was a nervous wreck until I got back to where she was.

I know what you mean. For some reason I kept on thinking that my job was on the line here. I don't even want to imagine what would happen if I wrecked her car.
