ticks and fleas

If you live in a wooded or sandy area you will find it most difficult to totally rid yourself of fleas and ticks. I know this from personal experience. I have tried washing my dogs in flea shampoo once a week and never got rid of it. To be honest I had fleas in my house before I had an animal. All I can suggest is flea baths and removing the ticks carefully with tweezers.

If you live out in the country and are surrounded by woods, or the yard is sandy then the fleas or ticks won't completely go away. A good thing to try is when you bathe your dog, put peppermint essential oil in the shampoo. Fleas can't stand the smell of peppermint, and they will stay off of the dog. As for the ticks, I'm not sure.
