When you respond to a certain discussion at least how many lines is your response? is it counted if you respond a short response or one line? will you be credited or earn from short responses?

it is a presumption that mylot is encouraging us to do more than one line per post. we are also encouraged to be as descriptive as possible when responding or starting discussions. that is the mylot note i see everytime i'm making a post. right there on the left side of the page, just above the mylot code whenever i'm doing a post. the shortest post i do is probably 3 lines at least. the longest... i have no idea. i just write and write my thoughts. words just flow. and sometimes i do get carried away with my writing. hehe short posts, even one-liners are counted. that is sure. as you would notice in the increase of the number of your post everytime you start a discussion, respond to a discussion and your first comment to another mylotter in a discussion you didn't start. they are all counted. but as to the earnings, only quality posts do earn. how mylot calculate for that is beyond us. perhaps short responses earn, but not as much as longer posts. all i know is i enjoy the discussions and i earn something for that too, like a bonus for doing something you enjoy. have a great mylot day.

you are wrong,I know from my own experience one lines are not counted you get nothing for them. to say otherwise is wrong and misleading. I found out you must post four to six lines to make good money and one lines did not make me anything at all,no matter how good you think that one line is ,it is not counted. I checked, no pay for one lines, wrote three or four made a little, wrote five to eight made alot more.

hi hatley! thanks for sharing your insights. but far from misleading, which is not my intention, i was merely sharing my experience in the same manner you did yours. as for counting the number of posts, i merely stated that yes, even short posts get counted. as to whether it passes thru quality, it is for mylot to decide to make it earn or delete a post (then it doesn't earn when deleted). as for earnings, i also stated that only quality posts do earn. i found nothing wrong with that. GoAskAlice shared clarifications too below.

How many lines of every response I give is uncertain. important for me, I gave a response in accordance with the discussion.

vycess, your posts - meaning discussion posts, responses, and comments - should be exactly as long as it takes to make a valuable contribution to myLot. Many of us have discussed this at length in other discussions and many of us agreed that if you can answer the discussion with only one or two words, then the discussion isn't really a quality discussion to begin with and my recommendation there is to skip those kinds of discussions. Now, to answer your question about whether it's counted - that depends on what you mean. If you are asking if you are paid for a short response, I'll vaguely respond with "you are compensated for your quality activity on myLot" and let you figure that out. Something to keep in mind though is that a discussion asking whether you prefer Coke or Pepsi, or one asking what your favorite color is, or many other examples of the same idea all get deleted, along with the responses. So, will you be credited for something we remove from our site? No. So what's the right answer? Only participate in discussions that you consider to be quality discussions. If it isn't quality, skip it and move on to a more substantial discussion. Does that help?

There's some good reading on this same topic here as well: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2236000.aspx

I try to make it at least three lines before I post my response. Sometimes you can give a quality response even though if it is just one sentence. But for the sake of making it into 3 lines, I sometimes add filler sentence just like this one. See what I did there?

My Lot usually pays from 1 cent to 2 cents. Depending on your quality you will receive more. Quantity doesn't matter its all about Quality. At a possible chance a 3 sentence line with quality may pay more then a 10 line quantity post. Most of my posts are within 3 lines to 10 lines they are usually my goals, when i make a response. You can still earn from short responses in conclusion. Happy Mylotting!

vycess I have learned from experience that you do not get paid at all for one lines on anything, whether its comment, response, or a discussion. mylot states they must be quality rather than quantity in that one lines are not quality at all. you do not earn from very short responses. I try to make all my posts on everything four to six lines long, and I get paid pretty well. one dollar or more so I know it pays to make them meaty and not short.

I don't have a general rule of how long I am going to make my post. I know you can earn more for better longer posts than for just saying silly things like "Thanks for the response", or just "Happy Mylotting" ... That won't get you anything. Most of my responses are at least a paragraph long. Although I have been know to type 10 or more..Depending on what is in my heart for the subject I am posting on. If I got a story to tell that will get my point across better. Then I will share it.

I don't exactly count my lines. I write to answer and I'm long winded (heeheehee). Anyway, one word or one sentence answer is not advisable. Getting credited is not for length of post but rather for content, that it is informative and constructive.

lines or paragraphs does not matter to me. as long as the content is there. let us say that you have 12 lines but the thought is not there. so it is useless. better to answer direct than hitting around the bush. cheers!

Hi, Vycess. In most of my answers I answer with 3-4 lines. Sometimes I can respond with one line, and sometimes I can answer with ten lines...

Hallo...vycess...I have been told how to earn more in mylot: 1) respond at least in 3 lines 2) using good English 3) post quality discussion 4) upload related photos for the discussion........I think the most important is "our opinion or ideas can be expressed in English that can be understood by others, and also it contains a quality suggestion/idea."
