Does this make any sense to you? Instead of actually addressing the problems in the city's most troubled schools and providing education to the children who need it most, Mayor Bloomberg really thinks that closing 19 schools is the best way to clean up the educational system in NYC. Great solution isn't it - instead of improving schools in the city's poorest neighborhoods, take the schools away and eliminate the problem.

Having worked in schools I can tell you that you can change the administration and if the staff is not willing to change nothing will get done. This may be the best solution to close the schools and start over some place else. Mix the staff up and you may get better results.

I agree with you in some respects. Sometimes you have to liquidate the culture of a place to really revive it. In this case, as desperate as the situation is in many of these neighborhoods, I wish there could be another solution that would not involve taking the educational institutions away from the neighborhoods that need them the most.
