Do you keep track of everything you watch and read?

This is just a question I have for all the anime watchers and manga readers out there. There are various sites online that lets you keep track of everything you've seen and read so I was wondering if anyone else uses them too. Some of the ones that I can think of are MyAnimeList, Anime Planet and even Anime News Network (ANN). I really find these sites to be useful, not only because I can organize things but because there are recommendations made based on the things you've seen. It's really helpful when you're looking for something of a particular genre to watch.

I usually don't keep track on what I watch XD. I watch so many animes so I really get lazy keeping track on all of them. If I hear from someone that "This anime is good", I usually watch it right away and then drop it the next second. I only keep track of what I watch when I see the anime is worth watching for. As for mangas, I bookmark them on my pc

That does make sense. I have that issue too. I'd keep track for a while but then get too lazy and forget about it. I guess I've become a bit more picky of what I watch and read though. I usually don't go out and see/read something just because someone told me it was good anymore. Everyone has different tastes so what I like might not be what someone else so the whole word of mouth thing can get unreliable. And I'd imagine that you'd have a bunch of bookmarks on your pc. I know I would if I were to do that.

I don't need to keep track of anime that I watch though. I've seen a lot but most of them have been awesome so I remember all of them without making an effort to keep track of them. And if the first episode is not awesome, I stop watching it and end up forgetting the anime even exists. Nobody needs to keep track of that list anyway.

I find it useful to keep track because I have a poor memory. For me to try to recall every anime I've seen would never be accurate. Also, I have to remember which anime I'm currently watching and those I plan to watch. I guess I could bookmark them, but it's easier for me to use the website because I have 2 computers and I may not always have access to the one with the bookmarks. And I find the site to be easier to view everything than using bookmarks.

I'm a member of MyAnimeList. I haven't watched a lot of anime and I've read even less manga The main reason I use the site isn't to keep track of what I have watched and read, but what I want to. It seems as though my list of "plan to watch anime" just gets longer and longer. If it weren't for MAL, I'd never remember what anime I want to see

That's cool. I'm also a member of MAL but I haven't been keeping up to date on there. It's a bit hard to keep track of everything because I honestly can't remember half the stuff I've watched/read over the years.

Hi saizo!^^ I don't keep track of what I've watched using those kinds of sites. Although I keep track of what I've watched by making a list of them in a notebook or something.^^;; Sometimes I even put a picture so I'd immediately recognize it. But having said that those sites also recommend what's good to watch based on what you've already watched, I think that would be really helpful. Like in my case, I open feel at lost on what to watch because I really don't have any idea what's good and what's not.^^

Hi secretbear, Thanks for responding and sorry it took so long to get back to you. But I can understand the feeling lost bit. That's usually my case with all these newer shows coming out. That's why I like those sites that have the recommendations on them where they have that feature telling you that if you like a particular show then you should try this one or something along that line. I've found those to be most useful and I've been able to watch some good series that I would've ignored otherwise.

I was like that too for a while. I'd end up jumping around from anime series to anime series. It got a bit confusing after a while. You also tend to miss things when trying to rush through it so you can watch something else. So, I've learned to take things one at a time. Even if you decide not to use any of those sites I mentioned you can still check them out. It's a good way to find information on other series and such. Thanks for responding.

I always keep track of those anime that I already watched. Aside from the anime, I also have the list of manga that I've read and other series. I don't know why I do this but probably just a memento. Creating such list is exciting just like watching anime.

It is exciting and fun to see what you've actually watched or read. I only wish I started keeping track of everything earlier...after all these years it would be a pain to try and remember every single show or manga I've read. I try to keep track of them but I know that I'm leaving out a lot of them. But I think it's a good thing you're keeping up with your lists...it does help to prevent you from watching/reading the same thing over again.

now that I read this, I think I'll go back to My Anime List to update my list once again! and yes, I've been keeping track of the Anime that I've watch. Though I'm not really into reading Manga. Somehow the feeling is so good everytime you see your list full of Anime titles. It's like an achievement to me everytime I get to finish a series. And by keeping this list you'll never forget of the Anime that you finished watching.

That is really true. Now that you mentioned it, I realized that it's been a while since I've updated anything on MAL. Guess I've been slacking again. But I do understand what you're saying. It's amazing when I look through my list and see all the shows I've watched or manga I've read.

I dont normally keep track of the things that I read or watch. There are times when I have a list of anime I wanna watch or books I want to read and I check off ones I finished. There are some anime I am trying to find and not sure where to look like Rose Maiden.

I have a book that I write down everything I've watched and I have a rating system I use to rate how I liked 'em. Half the fun, for me, with anime...is searching and scanning through other people's list...looking for something that looks interesting. I'm not the most organized person in the world, so this is basically as close as I get. xD I really like keeping a list of the animes I watch, though, because it gives me a chance to gather perspective.

Hi xParanoiax, Sorry it took so long to respond back. But you sound like you have everything taken care of. I've actually tried writing everything down in a notebook before but I never seem to be satisfied with things and end up stopping. I think that's why I like using myanimelist. They have this feature thing that gives you a compatibility rating with other users on there. The higher percentage the more anime/manga you have in common. I usually use that to check out the other person's list.

Ya pretty much i keep track of all the anime I've watched. I am so addicted to anime that it's crazy. I pretty much write them down and record what to watch next. Some anime were so good I have to watch it a second time, even thirds. Some people may thing that people who watch anime have no life but watching anime on computer is the same as watching T.V except the content, storyline and etc.. Besides why wouldn't you want to keep track. IT could help remind you of your favorite anime that you may have forgotten and would like to watch it again

So true. But I've come across people that say that doing something like this is really pointless. I can't blame them though since they don't watch a lot of anime to begin with. They're usually the ones who only watch the anime shown on TV so I guess they wouldn't really need to keep track of everything. I've also learned to ignore the people that says that people who watch anime have no life. I usually just counter with them and their TV watching habits.
