In our family.. we are all Christians (Pentecostal) .. except for my father and one of my brother.. so we just keep them in our prayers that someday God will touch their hearts so they will know the truth.. so last April 2009 when I joined a youth conference in cebu city,.. both of them where the subjects of my prayers.. and on November of 2009 our family encountered a problem.. a problem that almost make me weak but my mom and my co-youth in our church keeps on telling me not to gave up.. so I ask our youth pastor to cover me with his prayer.. I kept on reading the bible to enlighten me.. and I keep on my mind that "everything happens for a purpose".. maybe God has his own plan on giving us this problem..After a few weeks my father decided to go with us in the church and I was glad that after that day he reads the bible.. and what amazes me is that he already make it as his hobby.. cause every time I went home from school I always saw him reading the bible.. and he even share to us what he read and sometimes he ask us for an explanation because there are some instance that he is confused with the message.. I ask him.. "do you pray before reading the bible?" and he said "YES".. I say "a good.. you really have to pray before reading so that God will reveal to you the real message" ... he is also now encouraging my brother to go to church.. maybe that is God's purpose why he gave us the problem so that my dad will see and know the truth and for him to accept God in his life.. the problem is not yet fully resolved now but I know that God is working on his own way.. :)

Wow! such an inspiring story :) good to hear that your father is now reading the good news of the Lord. Truly, God moves in mysterious ways - in ways sometimes we cannot fathom but for sure these ways are for our good. Though we may experience trials/problems in life (and they are really part of life anyway), God is always there for us, God will never leave you nor forsake you :) God bless you and your family! :)

Hi canielynne.
Yes, when God permits a problem to stay, there is a good reason. Most times, if not in all cases, it is to help us develop a godly characteristic and deepen our walk in Him. I have a message that I want to upload--whenever I can find a reliable host. I'm hoping Associated Content will come through soon but it takes them a while.
I'm sure you know how a pearl is formed--a parasite or foreign body lodges within a shellfish. It's mantle oozes a substance called nacre (mother of pearl). As time goes on, a pearl forms. When problem does not go away that is most likely a formation of a spiritual pearl for you.
I'm Pentecostal too. Ever hear of these people? . . .

I don't belong to them (Zion Fellowship International), but they have at least one church in the Philippines.

Wow that is wonderful. Which is why I believe that God allows everything to happen for a reason. There are times when it seems painful to us, and we don't understand, but I know there are two reasons.
1) suffering happens because of original sin and we are in a fallen world. things like disabilities are not specific to the sin of the person, but due to general sin
2) suffering happens so that God can be glorified. as with the case of the blind beggar who was healed by Jesus. even when we are not healed, there are people like Joni who can be used to God's glory. whose whole life is a testimony.
Hope that your dad continues to grow closer and closer to Jesus!
