How has the economy effected your life?

Hi everyone,
How has the current economy effected you and your life? Has it effected your spending habits, did you lose a job? I'd like to hear from everyone on this topic and see what you all have to say.
The economy has effected me a great deal, I haven't had a job since November of 2007 and I'm just making it by, I think for the first time I won't be able to squeeze out February's rent and it scares me, if I get evicted, I have nowhere to go. I recently moved to California in September of 2009 for a job, that was promised to me and than fell through once I picked up my life and moved 3,000 miles away from my friends and family. I could go home if it comes down too it but I'm not sure how I'd get there without money. If I go back, I'm not sure where I'd live considering the economy has effected everyone, including people in my family. Not many people can afford to have someone live with them that doesn't have a steady source of income.
I really wish I could find a job right now but it's just the way the economy is and for me I don't see it getting better right now, I feel as if the rich get richer and the poorer get poorer. If it honestly wasn't for the fact that I was able to get food stamps, I'd go hungry so I thank the lord that I was able to get them and I've been able to eat since I moved here.
I look forward to reading everyone's responses, and happy mylotting!

the economy always affects the lives of people living in a certain place. only children, who are beyond understanding and under the care and concern of their parents, would not mind how the economy performs. they can only be affected when their parents become affected -- like low income of parents would mean less for children, in terms of food and other things.

I am sorry u are having such a hard time. Hope things change for the better for u soon. Bet your family & friends would be glad to see u come home. Things have not changed for me a whole lot. I have always had to live pretty frugally even more the last 5 years after i had a stroke & had to quit work.

My friends and family would love to see me back home but I'd have no place to stay since the economy has effected everyone right now. I don't even know how I'd get back home if I had too and now I have a cat and I couldn't see her flying 8 or more hours across the country, she's not an old cat so she'd be fine but I'm sure it wouldn't be a great experience lol. The unemployment rate back in Rhode Island is just as bad as California if not worse, so no matter which state I'm in, it'll be hard to find a job as I'm dealing with that right now but I do hope things turn around. I've been saying this since I moved out here in September of 2009 though and nothing has gone right for me, it stinks.

Yes, a very long time. I wish I could find anything at this point, even if it was only part time, full time would be great but right now I'd take anything I could get. Money is money and that's all I need right now to try and get by when it comes to my bills. I visit my library all the time since it's up the street but I don't have the money to go shopping or anything and it can be quite depressing at times but if I don't have the money than I guess I don't really need it as bad as I think I do. I haven't even made enough to cash out here yet but I'm still working at it, I wish I could find a great site online to earn me some money but so far no luck, I had found a good one but it was only one per ip address and than my neighbor decided to sign up using my wireless and I didn't know it and they banned me as a cheater, I tried to fight it but no luck. It sucks because I was making some great money on that one site and now I can't find one just as great, not even close.

I think the economy nowadays has strong impact to all people around this world, no matter rich or poor. We all know that we can't live without money. I think we need to rethink and trying many new things to earning money on such situation. We also should understand that no one want such situation occur but we have no option unless facing it with our best. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

Oh, I know but I know a few people who are rich so to speak and it hasn't effected them at all, they still spend a ton of money and than some and it makes me depressed. I wish I had money to pay my rent and their going out and buying brand new homes and cars, it's insane. I know people work hard for what they have but many of us want to work hard but we can't find a job to do so.

The slump in the economy has had a noticable impact on my life, but luckily not as bad as other people. It has reduced my spending habits because I now need to save every last penny, since finding a job is nigh-on impossible in the economy's current state

Yes, finding a job right now is nearly impossible and I don't see the economy getting better anytime soon, I wish it was but just as it took time to go down hill it'll take quite a long time to go back up and be positive for everyone.

The trend of economy today has affected my life drastically. I had to work overseas just to support my family, that means leaving my friends and love ones behind. My wife just got canned from her job so I need to work twice as hard now. The idea of having a baby scares me because of financial difficulties.

Wow! I hope things get better for you and your family and I hope that things get better for me as well. Yes, having a baby can strap many people money wise, their expensive and you have to be able to raise them for 18 years, it can be tough but if you have the money and can afford it than by all means go for it when the time comes and things are right. I'd love to have a family someday but even if I was in a relationship, I still can't afford one right now.

I got affected by the economy too. I have a regular job but i did not got the chance to save money because of higher prices of commodities. And the needs of my family increase in number, as my parents are now old and they have many needs including their medicines and supplements. The reason also why I get affected severely is because my brother is now in college and I am providing for his tuition fee. The tuition fee increase not only per year, but every sem and the government really don't care about this.

Well the economy has affected my business considerably. I am a therapist/counsellor and many clients have lost their jobs and of course can no longer afford counselling. I have a lot more time to work on the web now, but I'm lucky that I am near to retirement age anyway. _Derek

That sucks. I have a friend staying with me who has been out of job since September, 2008, and the job market is just crappy. I hope things turn around for you.

I have been out of work since May of 2008. I have worked all my life (32years). I moved to New Mexico to be near my daughters and my granddaughter. It has not been easy here at all. I thought I was going to love it and find a great job since I came from New York. However, they don't pay good here, most people need to have two jobs to survive because no one wants to pay health insurance. My only saving grace is that when I moved here I had sold my house in NY and I'm living off of that money. Now I have to sell this house so I can move to Puerto Rico to be with my better half. I hope to sell this year and get out of this problem soon. If I can't sell I will have to rent which I really don't want to do mainly because I don't want to have to come back to sell years down the line. Plus alot of renters don't know how to keep a house in good shape since they don't own it. So I wouldn't want to have to come back and fix things. Life can be so difficult sometimes. Excuse me, most of the times.

I hear ya, I'm only 24 but I've worked as long as I could get a job and it stinks not working, I hate being home all the time and I really need money to make ends meet, everyone does. I hope things get better for you as I hope they get better for me as well, I keep hoping I'll see the nice light at the end of the tunnel but it hasn't happened for me yet.

Economy in my own country affected so much all of the persons who are poor and become more poorer, which you are right. I can imagine that rich people became more richer, this is nothing to do nor a help to poor. In my hometown all are starving for food and also house are demolish just for the business corrupt to start build building there, it is so insane what do you think..

Hi sahsports. Sorry to hear about your situation. Whatever happened to that graphics design(?) business you had with your friend? Is that still working out? I hope scrounge enough for you to make Feb's rent.
The economy has affected everybody I know, including me. The company I work for had laid off almost 60% of its manpower last year. I'm one of the lucky ones who did not lose my job. But we did get salary reductions.

it affects me specially on financial crisis before. the economy here in my country is so poor, many people here is poor people because the economy affects their lifestyle their income. the minimum wage here in our country is not enough to sustain the daily needs of a one family. it also affects on me because i have a investment so the economy affects my income .

Hi sahsports, I'm sorry to hear about your situation.
I had been in a international-trade company as an engineer, most of our products exported to US. I lost that job at the end of 2008 since the economy effected.
Fortunately, I have some experience in other trade, so I got a new job in june, 2009. But most people dealed international-trade with US are not as lucky as me.

The economy nowadays is depressing, I know. I'm sorry you have lost your job and I hope you'll get a new one soon. In my country, the economy isn't that bad and it doesn't affect our lives. Everything goes as usual, but still, price of everything has gone up. I have to spend more money for the same stuff whether I like it or not. Hang in there, hun! It'll get better.

So sorry to hear about what's happening to you. It's happening everywhere. My husband has been also been out of work since Nov. 07 but luckily for us my job is pretty secure and we have a small business on the side so we've been able to hang in. It doesn't change the fact that he still has no job though. We are still young and have years to go in the workforce so the longer he stays unemployed the scarier it gets. Will people hire when he's been out of the workforce for so long? We'll just have to see.
I'm sure if you go back to your family things will work out. Things are going to turn a corner very soon. I think the secong quarter of 2010 is going to get alot better. Let's all keep the faith.
Good luck to you.
