Which type of discussion you prefer to start or comment on: General or Specific?

Hi friends.
I saw many useful and specialized discussions started long time (even years) ago with no respond on them. Instead you may easily find many general day-talk discussions every minute which may be somehow useless. Discussions such as "Do you like X or Y?", "Am I X or Y?", "Do you believe in X or Y?", etc.
Since MyLot is a general social network with lots of usual members maybe with no special skill, it could be expected though.
What is your idea about this? How we can improve the quality of discussions? Is it required at all or it should be the way it's going on? Start from yourself. Do you prefer to comment on a specific discussion or a general one? If you have no preference, usually how many general discussions you are involved with respect to specific ones?

I enjoy discussing ideas. This is a good topic, by the way! I will usually answer posts about a specific subject and I avoid the "what's your favorite.." questions unless it involves discussing attitudes or the effects on other people.
We can improve discussions by focusing on ideas instead of vapid questions. Sharing our attitudes, disagreeing with each other, making logical arguments on a subject are all interesting to me. I like the money I make from myLot but I won't participate in the one-liner discussions even if it means I earn less. After all, I'm here to have some fun, too!

Thank you dragon for your comment. I'm happy to see you agree with me. I don't feel good to that kind of vapid (as you say) questions. In my opinion, they show the starter had no idea and just wants to start a discussion for being active on MyLot (in fact to earn few more pennies!). I prefer to be able to help the others or solve my real problems instead of this. However, I also am here for fun like you and many others and can't say I didn't have or won't have such questions at all!

Basically, I respond to the discussions that really interest me, ones that I can give a response to. If a discussion doesn't interest me, ir I don't have a response to give it, then I will just skip those. I have many nintersts, and I go from one to another to post responses to them. I sometimes will have to search for a certain topic if I don't see what I am looking for on the board. There is no shortage of discussions if we take the time to look for ones we cab respond to. Dood luck to you and happy mylotting.

Thank you rosekiss for comment. So it seems it doesn't matter for you if that is a special or general discussion. Just if you are interested and able to answer, you will check it.
