How to increase traffic or readership to your blog.

I love blogging. I am good at writing and have lots of sparetime to write. I now have a website with blogger.com but being a newbie I still don't know how to create and increase traffic through this so-called SEO, adsense, chitica, etc. There are so many "how to" discussions I've been to but of little help because they talk of so much technical terms as if they're talking to another geek. Can anybody tell me about how to monetize my blog in simple understandable language?

To increase traffic on your blog sites, you need to sign-up at least 20 of the best bookmarking sites and have your blogs' website url submitted to each of the bookmarking sites.
