How do you interpret the song CHASING PAVEMENTS?

My friend introduced this song to me just weeks ago. And I fell in love with it. I can really relate to this. I always get an unrequited love. And I always get caught between giving up and chasing over.One side of me would say, I should give up since there are still a lot of fish in the ocean. My world won't stop if I can't have him. My other ego would tell me to continue loving him even if will lead me nowhere. He's the guy that I really want for life.

Yes I love this song to in fact its on my playlist. To me it can mean anything from love to careers. Chasing something that you know maybe you shouldn't but you want it so bad but you know you probably won't have it forever. Adele is a wonderful singer and I just love her songs so much.
