What do I need to know when I want to buy a used car?

I asked this question before and got no response. I really need answers. I don't want to get ripped. I am looking at a 93 honda or toyota. Which other makes and models are good?

i am not experienced with this but ill try to help
1)make sure that chassis is not welded (important)
2)test drive and make sure the pick up is good and there is no slack.
i cant think of anything right now but its a good idea to take a local mechanic with you to inspect.
you can compromise if you are getting a good deal.
