I just responded to a 4 year old discussion

why I am telling this one? Only that I feel it.
It so happened that while I am browsing the "no response" discussions, I came over this one interesting topic. So I checked the discussion and even checked the link the poster had given. The discussion came back from the gave.
One thing that interested me to answer the discussion is its age and wondered why it was never been responded, for 4 years?
So have you able to respond to an old discussion lately?

Yep, it happens all the time. A long forgotten post, will sometimes find new life. Especially with newer participants. I answer them all the time. usually the age of the post, doesn't matter.

age really do not matter, as long as we can relate or the discussion is interesting to us.

Yes. I have responded to discussions on here that have been 2 or more years old without realizing it.

it's not the age but the idea in the discussion that made us respond to it, right?

can you give me the link of that discussion? now you've stirred curiosity in me. When discussions are too lengthy to read, I personally don't feel like joining it, UNLESS (and it's a big UNLESS) it's a topic that very much interests me like no other can =D . Anyway I thought topics that old are automatically deleted in the system...

no kquiming you would be surprised if you had more patience and read some of the longer ones as they were put out by older members who have some really wild and wonderful discussions on
the long side. no old topics that date back to the start according to Alice herself are not deleted but kept.read some of the older ones you might like them. I guess the young people of to day are so into instant gratification that reading a real page is just so o o boring and so o o long poor things. wow. I am not
particularly impressed by that myself.

Yes and i'm still doing it up to now. There are a lot of interesting discussions that were made a long a time ago and yet still kept receiving responses up to now. It's really a way to keep yourself busy if there are no new discussions that catches your interest.

There are many discussions which it is worth reviving. MyLot discourage us from starting discussions on topics which have already been opened (and often delete those that duplicate other discussions), so it is in our best interests to add responses to old discussions rather than start new ones that duplicate them. We only earn from our own participation, so there is no real advantage in starting a new discussion: you will earn just as much by replying to an old one.
When you add a new response (or comment) to an old discussion, that discussion will appear at the top of many of the lists and so others should be encouraged to add their responses, too.

very good explanation and i hope many members, especially those are new, can and will read this response of yours. i agree with you, we only earn from our own participation. but even if we don't respond to any others' discussion, and we will just start our own, we still earn. what the people or members with this kind of thought doesn't realize, that even if they earn from creating more and responding to little, their earnings will not grow that much. create more and respond to more, participate more with others, that will help us more to earn more.

It's much better, especially when one is new to MyLot, to concentrate on responding to discussions. Almost anyone can ask a question but so many people think that a discussion just means 'asking a question'. A discussion is like a conversation: there is first a topic (usually with some questions about it); then there are people who give their views and opinions (more than just 'answers' to the questions) and then the person who started the discussion (and others, perhaps) should have more to say in reply to those opinions. If you cannot sustain it even that far, then it is not a good discussion!

It is so nice for you to do so. Hopefully this Mylotter is still active so that he/she will be glad that someone responded to his no response discussion. Since I usually check Today's Top and the discussions Friends Started. So I haven't responded to very old discussions lately.
I love China

thanks youless my friend. one reason though that i was able to get to that page and responded to that topics is i have plenty of time and when i run out of newer topics on top and today's, i tried that so as to kill the time, lol

Your discussion title really caught my eye. I've just today been looking at the no responses and new users discussions and found a couple that interested me. It's really sad when you think about it how quickly a discussion can fade and never be seen again until someone like you makes it resurface.

i usually do this, going to the no response or new users discussion page, and when i see interesting topic, i read and response if i can add something. but the 4 year old new user or no response discussion that i saw today, made me so interested to response than the others in the list.

hello neil!
well i guess there's really a lot of interesting discussions out there that has not been responded and deserves to be responded... you are giving a good help for the poster by reviving his/her discussion! hehe by the way, is the poster still an active member?
well so far, the oldest discussion that i have responded is just 3 years old and its a discussion from my friend...and good thing is that till now its still running and once ina while new responder comes in...

bwahahaha... i laugh out loud when i remember now that the member has only one post, after 4 years.
it's a great help to our friends if we can make their old posts revive. though we can also do it with our own discussions by commenting to some responses, we can also comment to our own response to their discussions.

i guess when he/she came back, s/he will be happy to know that after 4 years..someone responded on her/his discussion!
well yes that's true and i also try to do that...and also i am thankful to some of my friends here who revived my old discussions...

I always check the no responses everyday. I have responded to old discussions like that too. I don't like to see discussions with no responses so I will try to respond to as many as I can in there. I think some of those discussions in the no response section are better than what they so call hot of today's top!

exactly. just when some members say they got bored or ran out of discussions to start with, going through the "no response" or "new users" discussion page will help increase our earnings. aside from that, we can earn more friends, like you...

~ wow, that's really great. TOday I think I responded to one one year old discussion, but 4 years old is something much more older than one year and was it a good discussion or not, because you say it has no responses!~

Hi there.yes ofcourse i would like to respond to old discussions,i never mind to do that.although i think old discussions are much interesting than the new discussions. What you say?

there are lots of old discussions that are more interesting than newly created ones. one thing that made us go back in time and response to those discussions is when you feel you would start a discussion now but the idea has been posted already.

Old discussions like this one?
Yes, I do reply to old discussions, some even 5 years older. I respond to them as long as their topic interests me.
At first I was hesitant because answering to old discussions seems to be walking to an empty room. Everyone had participated and there is no one there anymore. But based on feedback by the veterans here about responding to old discussions, I learned that no discussion would be too old to participate. And so I started participating to old discussions. What is nice is some of the discussion starters still comment back to their responses. To me that is so cool!

Hi neildc,
I have to say I have not come across any quite that old but yes, I have stumbled across some very old discussions and they were great and I did respond. I think sometimes good discussions get lost in the shuffle of things here. Its kind of cool, I think. I've had a couple of mine revived that were so old that I barely even remembered writing them. So was the writer of that discussion still here?

hi neildc yes I have responded to several that were really interesting and I also wondered why nobody had responded?
maybe the topic was one that was not in favor or the people just'
bypassed it as being old and maybe the original poster was no longer here. peoples tastes change over the year too. I love it
that some have responded on some of my old discussions too. it
makes it so much fun and I will comment back of course.

Four year old discussion? Do you think the owner is still active? But I think even if the topic is old for as long as you can say something worthy and helpful then why not? It is better to answer an old sensible topic instead of wasting time answering a senseless one. I think I will also look for old discussions one of this days!

wow that's kind of sad to hear someones post didn't get a responds to. I guess there could be a lot more in the no responses with out any responds. would be disappointing to see my responds or post didn't get a reply. I mean even if it got one at least. as for replying to that four year post well if it didn't get one four years ago well then it isn't going to get a new post. :P
