One of my nearest and dearest friends went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2010. She was in a coma for several days before her family decided to turn off her life support.
This lead me to the question, do you have a living will so your family will know what to do if you are ever in a similar situation to what she was in?
I don't have a living will yet, but I have let my family know what my wishes are. However, until it is in writing they aren't able to fulfill my wishes so I am currently looking for someone that will be able to draw up a living will for not a lot of money.
Tell me about your situation and what your wishes are should you ever be in a coma.

I'm sorry about your dearest friend dorannmwin, i don't have any living will at this moment. but it's a big lesson for me that i should have one living will, so my family simply know what i do will in that cicumtance. Trading life with lack of money sound pitty.

Yes i agree with u. it looks like a very small thing. and some people might think it's not important at all. but they don't realized but making as your statement, it helps a lot your family in making decision about our life at that moment. we never knows what will happen to us in the future right?

You are so right. I would never want it to come into play, but that would ultimately be one less thing that my family would have to worry about.

It is sad to think that there are so many people that know what they want to have happen to them but they don't take the time to do little things like a living will even though it would make future decisions for their family a little bit less difficult.

if i put into this situation.i dont have this living will.when i was in a coma.i know there is not any hopes for my life.if i still live in this situation.it only spend money to do any meaningful thing.this fate would let my family sad.i would have die one day.there is no difference for me to live time long or short.the result i think that my family should still be sad for me.so i dont be willing to live like this.it only let my family put into more trouble for me.

There is no reason that I would like to live in a persistant vegetative state and that is the reason that I want to have a living room written up because I don't want them to have to deal with making these decisions for me.

A living will is a document that sets out a patient's wishes regarding health care and how they want to be treated if they become seriously ill and unable to make or communicate their own choices. Living wills are also called active declarations.
Such a document may be helpful to relatives and to medical professionals in the case of a seriously ill and incapacitated patient.
Living wills are a part of planning what to do in the event of serious illness or disability. The phrase has been used as a handy media label to such an extent that many people focus on the document itself, rather than the actual process of advance care planning. It may well be that
A living will is not an instrument of euthanasia, but a request in advance to doctors not to give certain medical treatments.

I have not done a living will but would certainly not want anyone to put me on 'wires' rather than put me on wire and then pull them out!!!

I never knew that there were people that thought of a living will as an instrument for euthanasia. I certainly don't think of it this way. I don't want my family to have to go through days, weeks, months of grief when there is no chance that I'd never have a meaningful life again.

As far as I am concnered, I think I have a living will in my life which I think is to have a super car and have a big and quiet house of my own. I think I just short of money now.If money permition, I think I will have my own car and house. No matter I am in coma or not in coma, I will come to chase my dreaming will.I hope it can come true soon.

I don't think that you and I are really talking about the same thing, but I hope that your dreams are able to come true.

Being in a coma can happen to anybody but turning off life support can be wickedness especially when the family know what they would gain when that person passes on.
It is ideal to have a living will.

If one doesn't have a living will, I think it is also much more difficult for family members to be able to carry out the wishes of those that they love.

Soooo sorry to hear about this. About 10 years ago, my mum caught a heavy car crash, after she recovered, she told me at that moment, she was thinking about my future, so she exactly knew that she might be ok. So I just want to tell you no one want to lose their life, everyone has his or her living will. If your are in such situation, I am sure most of us can accept living with machines....and waiting for miracle...

That is exactly what my wish is. As long as there is some hope for recovery, I want it to go on. However, if it is determined that there is no hope for recovery, I don't want my family's suffering to continue.
