Sequels You Hope They NEVER Make!

This is sort of a sequel to the discussion I started about sequels awhile back. In that one I asked what movies you'd like to see a sequel to but in this one I'm asking what movies you think should just be over, end of story. I don't mean because the movie wasn't good but simply because a sequel would be totally pointless and almost sure to fail. I've found that genres such as action/adventure, horror, suspense and even some comedies, if done right can produce some great sequels. I'd say the one genre, or maybe it would be more than one if you consider some are dramas and some are comedies, in which sequels usually don't work is romantic films, at least those in which the "love story" is the main focus of the film and those which have a happy ending. If you're a sucker for romance like I am you may find yourself watching a particular good movie and thinking how you wish it would never end. You may think it would be great to see a sequel to know what happened after the credits rolled. However, if you stop to think about it, the main characters have probably already gone through every conflict imaginable and have jumped through hoops to end up together. A sequel would likely be anticlimactic and...BOOORRRINGGG...or just plain repetitious. Think about it, do you REALLY want to see "Pretty Mommy" or "Must Love KIDS and Dogs"? Do you want to see the main characters on shopping sprees at the local supermarket with a bunch of kids tagging along? Any thoughts? Am I right or wrong? Maybe you have a storyline idea for a great sequel! Annie

Please no more sequels to the Pink Panther movies. Nobody can replace Peter Sellers.

I heard something (although I'm not sure if it was a real rumor or someone being facetious) about a sequel to Titanic. That. Would. Su-uck. So I know Clerks 2 got a lot of attention but the Kevin Smith movies really do not lend themselves to sequels. I mean really... Strip Mall Rats? Caught Amy? Thank you, no. I also heard there may be a sequel to the Breakfast Club. Here's the thing. 20 years later, with a different cast, director, producer, et al does not qualify as a sequel - that is a remake and also a bad idea. And please, for the love of everything that is good and green on this Earth... NO MORE BRING IT ON MOVIES!!!! The first sequel was bad enough but did we really need four more of them?

I was just about to say the same thing about the Titanic sequel myself ! I love the story Titanic told but I think a sequel to it would just be stupid because the story is perfect how it is and doesn't need a sequel . I didn't know about the Breakfast Club remake/sequel ! Oh and I totally agree with you about the Bring It On movies because I think they are crap !

I've never seen "Bring it On" or "Clerks" or any of the sequels so I can't say anything about them. It might be interesting to see what happened to the kids from "The Breakfast Club" 20 years later but I'm not sure if it would make that great a movie. I DID like all of the "American Pie" movies I've seen. Annie

I used to be an avid reader before I got addicted to my laptop. I could not wait for the latest book to come out for the Norah Roberts saga type books. She had all these different trilogies I think these would make good movies. Maybe they have I'm not sure.

I hated the Twilight New Moon. It is one of the worst movies I have seen. So that was one sequel I wish they had not made. I did not like Twilight that much, but still, the first part was watchable, but the new one is a disaster. I hear there is third part in the making. I would really plead them not to make that one. I am sure it will be a waste of time and money.

I wish there won't be " Titanic 2 " or " Sound of music 2 ". It's enough to put that wonderful memory of those movies in the bottom of our heart, and we can just recall it sometimes by watching the movie one more time or talk about it with one or two close friends, accompany by a cup of tea in one lazy afternoon. But it doesn't mean sequel movie is a taboo to make, some of romantic comedy or horror would be tempting to wait for ( as long as they have good quality ) But just think twice to make a sequel for all time classical movie in my opinion.

I can´t think of many good sequels. I try to avoid them as much as I can. And NO! I would not like so see Pretty Mommy. Although I do like to see Pretty woman again and again when I´m in the right mood. But Pretty woman is Cinderella´s story. And fairy tales have to end with "and they lived happily ever after". I did not even like the very end of Nothingham Hill. That domestic scene at the park was an anticlimax to all the moving-hilarious part with the run to the press conference. It should have ended there, when the actress said she would spend a lot of time in England. I love my children and grandchildren, but even THEY are not part of the love story I had with my hubby for almost 40 years. Some thrillers have good sequels, as long as it´s just the main characters who are there, but with a complete different story.

There are thousands of movies that I pray Hollywood don't decide to make a sequel for, especially the old classics like Scarface. Heck, even The Godfather didn't need two more movies, in my opinion, as none of them could get any better than the first one anyway. Also, The Matrix is another reason why not all films need sequels. I know they had a lot of explaining to do in the film, but it seemed that with each new installment, it went further downhill And don't even get me started on "re-makes", destroying beloved classics and forcing them into an "updated" and "modern" format

i liked the first TRANSPORTER movie but not the sequels. so i wish they hadn't made them. and also i wish the RAMBO series also ended with RAMBO III. JOHN RAMBO was pointless.

A sequel that they have already made which they shouldn't of was Crank 2:High voltage. It was a good movie just like the first but they had alreadly killed of half the main characters then found ridiculous ways to bring them back to lifeso the sequel would be just like the original
