personally i dont think so. but first of all congrats.not for starting this discussion but pointing out its the bowlers who matters in test matches so we wont talk about batsmen here. first problem is our opening bowling attack. zaheer is pretty much your go-t0 man whenever you want wicket and he will try hard but its the other guys.my view is that if you want to groom a good fast bowler, dont expose him to T20's before he prove himself in test arena.they did to ishant and he is not the same now. next our spinners.ofcourse there is some problem with amit mishra inclusion but if you want to win a test match, that too in indian conditions,a leg spinner is a must and mishra is good. te headache is ofcourse Bhajji.whats the use if he can get those five for wickets once every 4 or 5 test matches? he is not at his best ever since kumble retired. one more thing.the best way to win a test match is have atleast 5 genuine bowlers in the team.which team india wont do so there chance chance of retaining his very low. with 3 players in the middle order missing, may be they have to prepare an extremely flat track so we wont lose any matches against proteas.

I think they will be able to sustain it for the feb month as without dravid and yuvraj India has enough fire power to be the best and stay the best.It is upto bowling that zaheer as usual have to fire otherwise it could be a big worry to win the matches. But I hope the best for the Indian cricket.

Obviously india will have capability to sustain their number 1 in test cricket.. and in this time india are in very good form..and every player are try to giving good performance.. so i have no any doubt that india will sustain their number 1 position in test cricket.. but remember this also no team are weak in cricket.. so we may continue to our this good form in the future series against South Africa..

hopefully anurag lets see but we dont have good bowlers to take 20 wickets except zaheer all are inconsistent . I dont rate harbajan as big bowler he his overrated and takes his place for granted time some one talks to him and makes him und his role cheers mate

Yes Indian team have the capability to sustain number 1 status in test only they will miss dravid because he was in great form.India team is very strong in his home team our all batsmen are in good form if they score good runs then defiantly bowlers will form good and will take teams and if in this series bowlers don't perform good then they know that will have to do rest.Rest will see on 6th Feb when series starts.

Australia will be back on top soon! But seriously, I think India can maintain it. They do have good depth from what I have seen and can cover any upcoming retirements pretty well. I think India will be a powerhouse of world cricket for a long time to come.
