Effects of Alcoholic beverages

I am not a frequent drinker and when i drink i make sure i don't get over drunk. I drink beer, tequila, rhum, gin, almost any alcoholic beverages. I have a moderate tolerance for them. There's just one thing i notice when i consume alcohol specially when partying with other people: that my senses are more alert! It's like i see almost every movement around me or hear even the tiniest voice inside the room.. recognize a voice even if i don't see the one who's talking. Am i weird? Am i the only one experiencing this? How about you guys, do you feel the same way when you are tipsy from drinking alcoholic beverages?
