I have short sightedness , that is also called as myopia . I have a power of -1 in left eye and -0.75 in right eye. Now i am wearing glasses and i think glasses make my face more handsome, but some say that wearing contact lenses instead of glasses is better. What do you think?? What are the advantages of contact lens or disadvantages of wearing glasses.

Hello boomima,For me, i prefer to wear eye glass because it was used even before by our folks. While contact lenses are the latest types of lenses that mostly use only by the younger generations.Good luck,Have a nice day!

I have been wearing contacts for 40+ years and most of my peers who need vision correction also wear them as opposed to glasses, so contact lenses have been around a looong time. I hardly would say any of us are of the younger generation. LOL

Hello. I don't know if either are better, but my eyes can't tolerate contact lenses. I think glasses are easier to maintain than contact lenses. Some people look better in glasses because I think glasses add something to their looks. In my opinion contacts are a waste of money because they are such high maintenance. Glasses are cool because you just put them on and go. Contacts require constant cleaning and care and putting them has to become second nature.

Depends on the contacts, purplerain. I wear extended wear disposables. No maintenance required. Wear them a week or 2 or longer, even sleep in them, than toss them, and put in a new pair. No cleaning. No storage. None of that. Less maintenance than glasses.

I think so. At least the glasses have less possibilities to have the optical infection. If you don't pay attention to the optical health, then it is easy to have the infection if you wear contact lenses. The result can be quite serious. Just in this aspect, I prefer to use glasses rather than contact lenses. I love China

I am sorry to say but I have never been comfortable wearing contact lenses....I always prefer glasses...My friends do love wearing contact lenses. To be honest I have never tried them..I think safety comes first & glasses are much more safer. But still in the end its ur decission!

I prefer, contact lenses. I feel convenient in contact lens than glasses. I was using glasses initially, but when I start using lens, I feel to lens thereafter. It gives perspective view too. In my opinion, lens are the best. You also try it once.!

Neither are necessarily better. But, based on your eyesight, you probably really only need reading glasses... if I were you, I would only get reading glasses. Contacts are fairly expensive and bug a lot of people's eyes so I'd really only recommend them to people who need to wear glasses all the time but don't like the look, etc of them. (such as me... -7 in both eyes! I'm blind as a bat.)

It's totally up to the individual, boomima. I am extremely nearsighted (-7.00 in one eye, -7.50 in the other) and I wear contacts. I HATE glasses. To me, they're uncomfortable. They fog up; they get all wet and I can't see when it's raining; they slip down my nose; and with my thick coke bottle lenses, it's like I'm looking at the world through a fish bowl. I've gone the gamut through the daily hard lens to disposable extended wear lens which I now wear. It's nice to be able to see clearly when I wake up, instead of just 6" in front of my nose. Bottom line: I prefer contacts. purplerain prefers glasses. What do YOU prefer?
