when your facial wash leaves skin dry/itchy...

There's this facial wash system that I use that I feel really cleanses my face. I also feel that my skin is softer and smoother after I use it. The only downside is that after awhile, I will feel the lower part of my face, by the chin, start to itch. You know the feeling of itchiness because it's getting dry? THat's how it is. But it's only on the chin area, or near my mouth. Everywhere else on my face is okay so I don't think I'm allergic to it. I moisturize after I wash my face but I don't know what else to do. Should I drop the wash? or should I switch moisturizers?

I think your facial wash is too strong for you, which could cause other problems than the itching after a while, so I would strongly recommend that you switch to something else. If you don't want to do that, at least make sure you moisturize properly after using it to minimize the damage!

Thank you for responding :) I have since stopped using that facial wash as I also figured that it may be too harsh for me. I am now using a product that is organic and made by a fair trade company, it's the Tomato and Lemongrass Facial Wash by Human Heart Nature. Love it so far :)

I would definitely suggest you give another wash a try as even though it's only part of your face it does sound like you are having some kind of chemical reaction to it. Also, try a new moisturiser first as this could be the cause or perhaps try moisturising more regularly then you do now.

Thanks, I think I'm leaning towards trying a different moisturizer first. After all, I don't really see any good that my current facial cream is doing for me (despite the price tag) so perhaps I should test a different moisturizer first. I want to give this facial wash another chance because I really feel clean after using it. Do you have any recommendations in the moisturiser department?
