How do you remember your passwords to all the accounts you have?

Given the numerous accounts we have for eg hotmail, facebook, gmail, company email, online banking account etc etc do you sometimes find it a challenge to remember all the passwords you have for all the accounts you have? Well perhaps the easiest method will be to have the same password for all the accounts you have. But for security sake it may not seem such a wise idea. Or you can record all your secret passwords somewhere under lock and key in caseyou do really forget you can still search for it in the hard copy you created. Well others may even input their passwords in their cells in encrpyted form which can be done by downloading certain software to enable that function. So what is your suggestion on how best to remember all the various passwords you have for all the different accounts you hold?

all the passwords and user names listed in my browser, so once I opened it was typed and I just need to log in. To keep my password secure is to use special symbols. You may also need to be careful in opening a site, because sometimes they use software that is not visible on your desktop.

Well that is good if you are the only person who is able to access that computer. How about using a common workstation shared by others eg cybercafe? Then we might have to realy rely totally on our memory to remember the different passwords? :)

well. I don't use common password for all accounts.. but I am using one password manager software which remembers my all passwords.. and I need to remember that password manager software's password only.. and I also write my that password in my mobile with hidden text file so if someday I forget it, I can retrieve from there.

I normally stick to the same user id and password for all accounts. Here and there, when they are specific with letters and numbers, then I write it down.

hi trixyteddy I think thats the most common and easiest method to remember all the passwords that you have for all your various accounts. Despite its ease in remembering, it also has its don of making your account being easily hacked. So do come up with a password that is less personal and is less easily deciphered. Thanks again for your kind reply =)

Hi Yugasini well yes I agree sometimes we do tend to take the easy method which is to use the same password for all the accounts we have. It really saves lots of efforts in trying to remember all!

I write my usernames and passwords down, and keep them in a safe place so I know where they are if I need them. I think it is much better than way, as I have way to meny to remember them all. I maks sure that I don't misplace them as that would be easy to do. I have tablets that I keep my user names and passwords in. Believe me, there have been times I am glad i have them written down, as I have had situations where if I didn't have them written down, I wouldn't have remembered them. I just think it is easier for me. Take care, and happy mylotting.

Thanks for your kind suggestion rosekiss. I do agree sometimes we really have to rely on writing down our passwords as I do not think all of us can possibly remember all the passwords we keep!

My passwords, if not all the same, are very similar to each other. So sometimes I try one out, if it doesn't work it's just going to be two other tries. But that's what I loved with Passport.Net or Windows Live ID, it allows you to have just one login information for member services, site. I just wish more site would use the service too.

I use a theme book and write down my many passwords. They are listed in order of joining the various sites. They are not under lock and key, but rather in a slot on my desk. There are a few passwords that are private, so that is stored in my head.

Yes I do think there are certain passwords which are very personal to us and we will not easily forget and most of the times we use those personal passwords to remember for the more important accounts we hold so we can easily remember :)

I don't dare save my password information on my computer. I save all of my account info in a special small notebook I brought at a dollar store. I write down all of my online account stuff down. I have learn that all of this information can be lost if it's stored in your browser if there is computer problems ( or perhaps be hacked and stolen!.) I also don't trust to use software that remembers my passwords. But I have memorized a lot of my passwords to my most frequently used accounts so I don't have to look it up all the time...

Well yes I would think the best and most reliable method will be to memorise all the passwords by heart provided if you have an excellent memory. :)

It really isn't safe to use the same password for all the sites you have. I have a unique password for each of my sites, and I have a notebook where I write down all my passwords. I don't store my passwords in my computer. I also change my passwords every 2 or 3 months for security.

Hihi yes i would definitely agree that changing your passwords on a regular basis would certainly reduce the risk of any possiilty that your account may be hacked or even compromised on security and that is a definite great method to keep your accounts safe! =)

Hi,
As much as I shouldn't I switch between two or three passwords for everything I have an account for online. I have my laptop set to remember most if not all of my passwords for all online accounts as well, it's just easier that way. I'd rather not write down all of them and have the chance of someone finding the list if it got thrown away or something. I know you their are hackers out there and I might sound like I'm contradicting myself but it's just the way I prefer to do things as far as my password and user names go.

Yes I totally agree it's not easy to memorise so many passwords for all the different accounts we hold so for many of us taking the easy route out by having the same password for all the different accounts we have seem the most viable

Nice question. Many of the persons who are working on the internet face this problem.
But there is a solution for this.Download "ROBOFORM" software. There is no need to purchase this software.
What are the uses of "ROBOFORM" software?
By using this software, you have to remember only the master password.
This software saves all your passwords relating to the different websites.

I use to keep them in my my outlook which I found wouldn't be good thing if my computer got hacked. I also thought about putting in my PDA but I could loose it. But now I use an address book to keep it all organized and keep it at home. Now if I can only remember to keep the address book in the same spot in home. Hope that helps. :)

I was trying to keep track of them all, I have a lot of passwords to keep. I wrote them down at one point but lost the little book I was keeping them in and reset them. I had all of the same passwords to a lot of the sites, that don't work out to good either. I have a function on my cell phone that lets me store the passwords....only problem with that is I'm always scratching my head and wondering what I used on there as a password.
I have told my kids where they can get the passwords if they ever need them to get into certain accounts of mine in case something would happen to me and they could do what ever they need to do. I have to trust someone!

The best way to do this is to store it in Firefox their encryptions are pretty hard-core. And with Firefox it automatically fills in the form for you. For added security there a way to setup a master password so that not anyone can access your password set. One thing to be careful about is when selling your computer you should keep your hard drive, since that is the only way to be sure no one gets hold of your information, data, saved private datas.
