Recently I want to buy a new laptop. When I went to de bestbuy, I found the netboook is very cut, but I don't know is there some other difference from the laptop except the small size. Do you own a netbook?

Hi linlin2009! I don't own a netbook but I do own a laptop. Aside from the difference in size and weight, they also differ in the capacity and specifications. Netbooks perform slower than of laptops. Most netbooks are equipped with Intel Atom processors which is slower than laptops who are Intel Core 2 Duo or the lastest Core i7 which are really really powerful. But when buying them, potential buyers just consider their needs, what or where will they use the laptop or netbook. If you would just browse the internet, do typing jobs, or if you're a frequent traveller, a netbook works fine. But if you'll be making graphic designs, auto-cads, or hard core gaming, you should be using a laptop with higher specifications. Happy mylotting!

Thanks a lot for your explanation in details. I'm a student now, I want to take it everyday to school, so I think I need a light one, and the faster the better. So I think a small size labtop is good for me. I'll think of it. Thank you again!

You can make a compromise and go for thin and light laptops. These have a bit stronger CULV processor which are either dual core or single core and are much quicker. The Intel Atom is basically a stepped down celeron processor with a lower TDP to increase battery life.
The Acer Timeline series is a good range of Thin and Light laptops. If price is no restriction look into the new Vaio Z coming out in about a month or two with Core i7 and GT330m graphics with a weight in the same range as netbooks.

So in my opinion you choose good to buy a laptop and not just a netbook!!The difference is that:a netbook is useful if you just do simple things as surf the net, stay up to date on a site,or writing and sending mails and so on..surely if you need more professional or advanced features normally netbook is not as useful asy you can think!!In fact if you consider that normally netbook have a real low processor, ram and hard disk are very limited and even applications should run slowly due to the low specifications so may be laptop normally is a better choice!!

I don't have one but planning to buy one. So I did some research to see the differences between these two machine. Portable computers like laptops and notebooks have been in the market for quite sometime. The new entrant, netbook, has now revolutionized the industry. Gone are the days of carrying a large and heavy laptop around. Netbooks are much smaller in size and hence the portability factor has gained a truly new dimension. When an average laptop weighs a little lesser than 8 lb, the netbook weighs much lesser than 5 lb and slides into places that a laptop can only of dream of getting into. Netbooks are generally a range of 12” when it comes to screen size whereas a laptop ranges more than 12”.
Netbook processors consist of a single-core Intel and VIA chips that range from 1.1 GHz to 1.83 GHz but laptops consist of single, duo and even quad processors of Intel and AMD ranging from 1.6 GHz to 2.66 GHz. Netbooks come with a standard memory of 1GB upgradeable to 2GB and low end laptops come with 2GB memory and the high end versions can go up to 8 or even 16GB.
