We are having a lot of remakes(music as well as movies) in recent years. Some are good and some are not. Yes! it depends on how it is interpreted.
According to my view, I like Remaking. Its just for entertaining people by remaking it with the latest technologies.
Do you feel any remake which is superior to the original?
So, what you think about Remaking? Give me your opinion.

Well, with respect to some movies, I do have seen some good remakes of old movies. I did enjoy it. I am not very much familiar with music remakes since I have not listened much to music nowadays except for those songs that I have on my cd. It really depends on how the movie was done, but considering the technology nowadays, there are really good.

These days remakes come at a faster pace than they used to come in the older days. Well it seems that the film makers are really running out on some original content. But what ever it is the fact that the product that they make in the form of remakes are a mixed bag. Some times they are a great disaster but at times they make the full use of all possible resource to produce a master piece. I want to give the example of the movie King Kong. No doubt the original was good, but the remake that was made on the original one was better. It seemed so original and despite knowing the story of the movie, it never seemed that the movie was somewhere out of sync. It was a delightful movie indeed.

Some remakes can be good but most of the time there bad because when they do remakes they tend to stray to far from the original concept of the first original film, and in the end the film dosent have the same feel, so I dont think film makers should do remakes unless they stay true to the original concept as much as posible or I dont think the remake will work. I tend to get kind of excited when I hear about the remake until I see it then I end up being disappointed lol.

it will really depend on how the remake was done.some remakes were not good.others were made better than the original.with films,I can say Last House on the Left was better than the original.they added aspects that holds viewers at the edge of their seat.for songs,Perfect by Mason is much better than Princess Superstar's version.Mason's is much more upbeat and perfect for partying.

yeah I like remakes if they are good. if they not hmmm well just weak. but I have seen a lot of remake good ones. it is nice to see remakes to our growing technology, some really good anime also if you really want to see details. with HD also makes quality good also, so those remakes look really good. as for music that's a bit different I mean use your own words, your own imagination.

With respect to movies, remakes should not substantially change the story otherwise it would take away the essence of what made it worth remaking in the first place... You could show other sides that were not possible due to the lack of technology or creativity of the past movie makers.
The remake should be better, not only with the effects but with the story telling as well.
With MUSIC if you can't make it better Don't TOUCH IT!

I don't usually like remakes but there are exceptions . And I have had my original Be the remake. It all depends on the story and how the remake retells it. one of the best remakes I can remember is D.O.A. The remake took a 40's thriller and updated it to the 80's . Both are great . I like them both equally the same.

Most of the time I think the original of anything is usually the best but on occasion I do see something that was done better. I still can't figure out if the old charlie & the chocolate factory was great the first time or great the second, they are both goo, usually there is one that is awful and usually one that is great. My kids see or hear something that was remade and can't figure out why I don't like it or want to know how did I know the words to that NEW song?! I just laugh and t ell them, it's a remake and try to get them a copy of the old movie or song.

Hey avimra! Most of the time I don't like things remade! I
usually like things the first time they are done and am used
to it in the original form whether it is a movie or a song!
But, every now and then a remake does come about that is
good and sometimes it is better than the original or different
in a good way! My boyfriend and I watched the movie "The
Taking Of Pelham One Two Three with Denzel Washingon and John
Travolta and it was great! Now I did see the original, but
I was very young and don't really remember it so that might
have been why I liked, plus I love the actors! So, as I have
said it depends on the remake!

For me, it's fun to watch or to enjoy remake movies or songs. Not concerning which version is better, the comparing has already make me thrilled. Sometimes it's just hard to say which one is better, for example, the acting is two thumbs up for the older version, but the camera angle is superb for the later version. The scenario is better in today version, but the actress is much more charming in the earlier one.
For me personally, I'd prefer to say the old one tend to have richer and deeper atmosphere and charisma, you can see that in " rear window ". I like to enjoy the remake of the bee gees hit song " words ", remake by boyzone, it's a brand new touch in it, but never loosing the original point. In my opinion the worst remake would be " Psycho ", only my opinion.
But I don't think anyone can remake " sound of music ", do you think so :)

I like remaking songs and movies because we can find the difference between the old generation and the new generation. The main difference we can find was technology. For example:We can find graphics, animations in the new generation. But we cannot find it the old generation, even though the songs and movies are good in old generation.

in my opinion, some remaking music have unique feeling from the original one.some singer can put his feeling in the song with his special voice.so some remakes are better than the originality.

One thing about remakes, they have a lot to prove, especially if the original movie was a hit. It's really hard to resell an idea, and harder still to come up with a new strategy to make it stand out of the rest of the new movies (or music). But I think album remakes are easier to sell as long as the artist's interpretation is really good.
As for remakes I watched Fame, but it the critics did not rave about it. So I downloaded the original and plan to watch it tonight. Just to have the chance to compare the two versions.

Personally I feel that a lot of movies are remade becuase Hollywood is devoid of any creativity so are forced to mine the wealth of past movies to make new movies.
I personaly hate straight like for like remakes where other than retelling the story with new actors they add nothing, because they often fail to capture what made the original so good. Often making the newer version a shallower version of the original.
On the other hand re-imaginings often do work because they expand on the original taking it into a new direction and making it feel different. If Hollywood is struggling with new ideas the re-imagining movies rather than remakes is the way to go.
As for superior remakes well "Oceans Eleven" is definitely superior to the original with the Rat Pack, but then the original was a seriously flawed movie anyway. "Dirty Rottern Scoundrels" is also a good demonstration of how to do a remake and whilst the original "Miracle on 34th Street" is a bygone classic the remake managed to give it a touch of Christmas magic making it appealing to a new younger audience. But there is a good example of why that remake worked because they took a much older movie that younger audiences wouldn't watch and remade it pretty much like for like but so that it appeals to a younger audience.

I think remakes are enjoyable to me If I have not seen original one. I have seen few of remakes and its obvious to compare original and remake, for me its always original which scores more than remake.

I agree with you avimra, remaking is just for entertaining people with the latest technology. nothing is wrong in it. But the original is original. The efforts required to produce an original one are much higher then efforts required to produce a remake. By remaking the old once can be given a new life. As long as entertaining is concerned, I think remaking is good.
