After 2 TB what's next for hard disks?

I asked this to one of computer geeks (I am one, mind you) at the shop that I usually buy by stuff from usually and he couldn't give an answer. So what's next for the storage device technology. Is it going for bigger storage capacity? Or going for faster data transfer? What have you heard? Want to share?

I think its going to be faster data transfer like the new SSD drives are very fast compared to HDD as i see them in many gaming or media computers(high end).
Though i would like for a bigger storage as you don`t need to plugin your external drive for data transfer, but time will tell cant say anything as of now which will surely happen.

If only they can make it bigger, faster, and shock proof. I've had about three hard disks that had gone kaput because I was a bit careless. The though of losing @TB or more of data would really make me tear my hair out.

So true. My old sputtering 256 MB flashdisk felt so big at that time. I'm still using it though. Now we have 32 GM flashdisks, I could feel it cringing in my pocket. Harhar.

In my view predicting technology is pretty hard because it keeps changing all the time. For your query of hard storage capacity, it will depend how size of files keep increasing. This is the generation of blue ray drives so as a result users need more space. I think space will keep growing.

That's true. Mine's already filled up with movies I've downloaded. So my 1 TB is almost gone. I can't afford the 2 TB yet so I'm saving for that.
