That's the way to go and that's the kinda attitude one should carry! Warren buffet was 12 when he started buying stocks! Who knows you are the next one!

I was pretty young when I started saving but over the years things have happened like unemployement of my boyfriend, pets that needed expensive surgery, paying for college and so on. So the money that I saved has been taken out of account several times for other important things. It feels good that I had an oppertunity to do that because these things would have not been possible or problematic without these funds. I started saving at age 18 or so and I am currently 23.

good for you really! I wish I could start that early! I have just started saving a couple of years ago and have realised that every penny saved is a penny gained.

I'm currently 23. I've known for a few years that I need to set aside money for an emergency fund. The trouble is, for the past few years, my discretionary income has been pretty much 0. By the time the rent and utilities and groceries are taken care of, there's nothing left to set aside. Now my husband and I are both unemployed, we have medical bills that are overdue, I needed to get emergency repairs on my viola (I do occasionally get income as a gigging musician, but only if my instrument isn't broken!), and we're kind of stuck. So I'm well aware of the need for a rainy day fund! I just don't have one.

i was about 17 when i wanted to start saving. i thought it would be better than spending on things i didnt really need. so i tried saving for things i felt i really needed. i believe that saving is the best thing to do when you need money.
