Do your parents have a Facebook page?

My dad has a facebook. He actually has quite a few friends on it, possibly more than me! But it amazes me how quickly some parents adjust to new technologies. Although my mom is the total opposite - she barely knows how to WORK the internet let alone which sites to go on to "social network". lol. Anyway, does YOUR parent have a Facebook? Is there anything wrong with this in your opinion? I know a lot of people who think there should be unwritten "age limits" as to who has social networking sites..But hey, I'll probably continue to have them for as long as I possibly can! They're fun. But what do you think? Do you ever get "too old" for sites like Facebook? And does your parent(s) have a facebook?

My parents are old. My father's and mother's age are 52 and 48 respectively. They are the persons of old generation. Their thinking is not modern. That is why they don't have an account in facebook. I will try to get them an account in facebook.

I don't understand why you consider your parents old. They are still capable of work and taking care of you. My mother is 45 and she is great with technologies, although my father hates the internet (50) he has just started learning how to use it.

My dad has a Facebook page...and he has quite a few friends on....not as much as I do. Most f his friends are family friends who my sister and I know and they are on our friend list too. Our father knows how to use the site...but rarely uses it and prefers emails. But he does check on us(my sister and I) sometimes :P

My mother and my in-laws are on Facebook, although my mother is much more adept at it than my in-laws. My in-laws are not very computer literate and don't care too much for it. My mom was a computer programmer so she's pretty good with technology. Since I'm not exactly a "spring chicken" I'm glad there's no age limits to Facebook. I think social is social at any age and it's good to have a variety.

No. My mother didn't even know what email was until about three years ago. Facebook would just overwhelm her poor, old self. I think I'm happy she doesn't have one. If she did, she would know way more about my life than I want her to. There are reasons why we live in different states. Privacy is one of them.

My parents don't have a facebook page. And I'm somewhat glad they don't. However, I know that my mom's sister and my mother-in-law both have a facebook page. Although I doubt that they use it a lot.

both of my parents have a facebook page which is kind of weird. I mean they have connected with many of our family members which is nice. It can be a good thing but it can also be a bad thing. They are so addicted to Farmville; its kind of funny.

Hi maezee. No, neither of my parents have a facebook account. Heck, my mom doesn't even have a computer! She's not interested in getting one either, so chances are she'll never have a facebook account. My dad, although he does have a computer, he doesn't have a facebook account. I looked him up on there just to see if he was on there and couldn't find him. His name does come up, but it was for some other guys that had the same first and last name as him. I don't think there should be an unwritten age limit when it comes to sites like this. Why should there be? Just because someone is older doesn't mean that they can't enjoy these sites as much as the younger generation. Just out of curiosity, what do these people consider old? Because chances are one day they'll be "old" too. LOL And I'm guessing it won't stop them from having their facebook accounts. That is, if facebook is still around by then. Happy mylotting!

Yeah, my mom has facebook. I was pretty surprised at first, but I've noticed a lot of people her age have it now. Seems like my whole family, including most of my older aunts and uncles and even my grandma have it now. Its a great way to keep in contact with people you don't see too often but its a little weird posting things to my friends that I have to worry about my grandma reading lol.

Nope. Well... I don't think so. My dad doesn't even have a cell phone, so I know he doesn't have a facebook page... but my Mom had a myspace once upon a time and she may proceed to facebook if she feels the desire to. I'll probably know when I find her in my friend requests. I don't think there should be any rules, written or unwritten, as to how young you have to be in order to use something like facebook. I know pretty of people up there in age who have a facebook pages and use it quite often. You're never "too old".

Dear maezee, Unfortunately, I have lot both of my parents during the course of time. I am myself 55 and I do now use internet and that too a lot. The developments of technology, to me, have not only cut the distances across the countries but the same has also narrowed down the age difference when coming to making over friends over the internet.

My parent's aren't using computers now my father was using it few years back, but age and health condition doesn't allow him anymore. I recently opened up an account in Skype and perhaps I'll teach my mother this time. On the age restriction, this is the internet, :D if kids lie to create accounts in there, how to put an upper age limit? furthermore the more in facebook the better for them, so it will be a stupid manouver to do so, furthermore people has freedom to choose friends and their access there...

My parents don't have facebook. One of the reasons is they can barely use the internet. And another is that they don't even understand what they're supposed to do there. My mother has asked me a couple of times: yeah, but what do you DO on facebook? I think they don't understand the idea of chatting online. It also doesn't help if they have a facebook, if other people they know don't have it. I know I would never add my parents on facebook because I don't feel like sharing everything I write on there with them. Parents also have jobs that take a lot of their time and since they didn't grow up with this technology, they probably know that it's better to spend their time in another way.

My mom has. But most of her friends there are just me and my brothers. Then some aunts. I don't think there should be a restriction for ANYBODY to log on to social network sites. But I know how most people feel about their parents looking into their profiles. You feel as if they're invading your privacy. And sometimes some parents can't take jokes or some remarks you make with your friends. So it's a pain in the neck when your mom or dad starts saying things like... "i didn't like what you said in your shout out.." or "i don't like your picture there.. can u remove it?" That's why my mom is on limited profile. It's not that i'm hiding things from her. Gosh! I'm too old for that. But i just hate the long discussions over a shout out or over a picture that i took with my friends while raising up a middle finger. I feel like my facebook page is my sanctuary. A place where I can rant about stuff while being able to relax and play... and then share stuffs to my friends.

My mom is on Facebook, she was attracted by the apps more than anything else. She does comment on her friends updates though. We have a lot of mutual friends too, friends of the family and relatives. Yes, it's awesome that FB has no age limit and I think that's how sites should be. Although for kids there should be parental consent, in accordance with US laws, before any site can collect personal information.

Both my mum and dad have a Facebook page. My dad has it to keep track of old friends and faces, and my mum has one simply because "everybody else has one." Funnily enough, I don't have a Facebook page My mum and dad are always asking me why I do not have one and are offering to make me one, even though I told THEM how to sign up to Facebook in the first place

no they don't. they are aware about these social networking sites but i think they are not interested anymore. haha! They have other priorities now. For me there's no anything wrong in having a facebook page of parents because they are still free to do whatever they want to as long as it's right but they should not forget their other responsibilities (they might be addicted to games! lol). Thanks! :)

I have a FCB page. I was the first one in my family to have one. Then my 2 brothers signed up for one only to keep an eye on me and look after me, they just do this in order to protect me and check what kind of photos I upload. I find this sweet even though I sometimes get annoyed! However, my mother also got a FCB page and she is in my friends. Yes, she irritates me a bit but I think it is better to have some supervision online!
