The last action hero and now Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger might be the last remaining hero of Kettleman City in California. The people of the impoverished city claimed that the rash of birth defects in their area was due to the operation of the waste facility by a company known as Chemical Waste Management Inc.
They stated that the kids in their area was born with facial defects. They attributed this to the waste materials from the said company. The company answered, saying the birth defects was due to the diesel emissions and pesticides from the nearby farms.
The Governor ordered two government agencies to investigate the matter. This comes after he noticed the protest actions of the residents. There are numerous reports about industrial chemicals having effects on human health.
It is like dealing with chemical warfare but only in a more subtle form.

I don't live in the US but know a fair bit about Arnie and what he's trying to accomplish in California. He seems sincere enough to me. Is it true that he could never be President because he wasn't born in the US?

Hi there
I think it is just an issue some quarters are trying to brought up. He is an American citizen and has every right to run for the Presidency.
They should have not voted and stated him as governor if that is the case.

I agree that waste has contributory effects resulted to birth defects. Any too absorption of chemicals that are toxic in the body will give abnormal defects either during the time a mother is conceiving a child or even any normal person living in the vicinity which has many Chemical waste productions that tend to be inhaled by people, been affected in their skin, food intake and lifestyle.
Chemical waste industries must be placed in an area far from any community or person living. The illnesses he may get can be transferred to other person through any form of interactions either direct or indirect transmission.
I believe that because of over population in a certain country. Some people has no choice but to leave among those areas. The Government unit concerned for Health Sanitation programs including the World Health Organization must provide proper strict implementation for alternate relocation sites as a good objective to focus the health of every individual and a healthier way of living especially the under privilege. less fortunate one's who need many assistance and be given with proper orientation programs as awareness.

The claim of the residents in that city is very very possible and true. Since the onset of the industrial age there have been many proven cases of chemical pollution in several areas in the USA caused by toxic wastes from big chemical companies or by the burying of chemical and toxic wastes in said areas. These have even ended up in big sensational cases where the companies involved were made to pay billions of dollars to families of the the victims. The movie Erin Brokovich with julia Roberts in the starring role accurately depicts what happens as a result of such pollution and the damages which can be awarded against the erring companies.
