Friendster for Strangers and Facebook for my Friends

I worked as a Radio DJ for 7 years. During my first few years as a Radio DJ, I have been asked by people if they can add me at friendster. My friendster's contact list grew so fast and had reached its limit that I had to make another account. As soon as I registered for a second account, it was starting to get full again. Then I had the third account. As you can see, people were adding me up even when I haven't met them at all because I was working for the radio. And because of my job I also had to accept their friend request because I don't want to be rude. And because at that time I also wanted to gain a lot of friends. But later on I felt that I had to filter what I post on my 3 friendster accounts. Years later friendster had removed the contact limit and had able people to add as many friends as they can in their account. When this happened, I started posting shout outs on my 3 accounts that I'll only be keeping 1 account because I was tired of posting same stuff on 3 accounts. Soon after this FACEBOOK came into the picture. I registered there because my friends told me it's new and that it has lesser people. Not like friendster that it's flooded with a lot of people with symbols used for their names. I liked FACEBOOK because of the fact that you can see their names correctly except if they don't spell it right. Aside from this I like that it's very simple and easy to use. I also like the new features. When I signed up on FACEBOOK, I immediately decided not to add people whom I don't really know. So when people started asking me if I have a facebook, I always tell them to just add my friendster account. I told them that I usually add the same stuff. The only thing is I can post as much as I can in facebook for my friends to see and not strangers like in friendster. Just last year I quit from being a dj for good. I'll post a different discussion for my reasons of quitting the radio business.
So anyway, I don't understand why people are still adding me there when I specifically put there that I just want people who knows me and vice versa to add me there. I don't think they even read the information page when they look at an account.
I like facebook because you can easily just tag a picture. You don't need to re-upload it so that it will be shown in your account. You can also remove the tag if you don't want it to be included in your photos.

hello ainee82!
Haha! That's funny! "friendster for strangers, facebook for friends" hihi! I laughed because I feel the same way. (pardon for friendster creator..lolz) I have 600 plus friends on friendster and I don't know most of them. Because when I started out I got psyched and crazy over getting a lot of friends. I thought it'll be fun to have bunch of random friends everywhere but as a result, I fail to take note on my real friends activities or "updates".
I just had my facebook last year and I made sure to have my "real" friends on it and not just random faces that I don't know or sure of. Yup, one great feature of facebook is that you can easily share photos by "tag" and you can also chat with friends. Oh...have you tried video chatting on facebook? I've heard of it a couple of months ago but haven't tried it yet. Facebook is way better than friendster.
Happy Lotting!

Haha! It's good to know that other people do it too. Thanks DanityKane! I'll try to check your discussions later. I feel grateful that you are reading my discussions.
Oh yeah, in addition to that I love the part that I can put people on my limited profile list. So that they won't be able to view my other albums.

Personally, I don't have a facebook account. All the people around me have their own accounts, including my 9-year old son. I used to have a friendster account, but that has since been neglected. I have a linkedin account but that's for my professional contacts. To reach friends, I just use good ol' fashion email.
So, what station did you DJ?

I was a dj at Killerbee 89.1 Davao www.killerbee891.com
I think they haven't updated that for a long time. So I think some of my pics are still there. It's a sister company of 89.9 magic in Manila and all other Killerbee stations in the Philippines. You can also add them up in facebook group Killerbee 89.1 Davao.
