i travelled abroad three times last year. in january, my domestic flight was delayed for 2 hours but it was just bearable. the next time, it became five but it was all right because we were served some free snack not to mention that the airline staffs were almost eaten alive by some annoyed passengers. i cancelled my appointments to meet up with friends due to time constraint. =(
in september, i took a new airline for my international flight. i was totally helpless when it was delayed for 9 hours. did i say nine???????? yes, right nine hours!!!! and i was in the oldest terminal where no entertainment was available. it was fun chatting with some korean kids and an old british guy.
that's the longest number of hours of my flight delay and i keep my fingers crossed that it won't happen ever again. we were given a very good reward though. even we were not served any snack at the terminal, our excess baggage no matter how heavy they were was waived for free.
so what was the longest time of your flight delay? how did you manage to use your time at the terminal. do you think you can beat my time? i just wanna know.
enjoy mylotting and thanks everyone!

I certainly beat your record. My last flight was delayed for almost a whole day because of a typhoon. Me and my companions found out about it the night before our flight, so it was no big deal. We just stayed in our rooms and waited until the next day.

My flight from Athens to London was delayed by eight hours. It was an uncomfortable night on the floor of the airport. I felt so very tired by the time I got on the plane to go home.
Customs and Excise decided to do a search of the plane. It made a delay of four hours on my flight from London to St Lucia. I read my book and bought a magazine. I had a snack to eat.
There was fog around the London area. The plane flew to Manchester and then came back to London hours later. Next it had to be cleaned. It made a delay of five hours with my toddler son. After 22.00 the cleaners began hovering. The shops all closed at that time too. Few passengers were at the airport. So the flight that was meant to have left at 19.00 went at 01.00 the next day. It was a twelve hour flight in economy class. We arrived at Cape Town airport and had to wait for ages to be picked up.

I was once delayed for over a day on the way home from Israel. There was some kind of strike involving petrol and the plane couldn't take off. Luckily the airline put us up in a hotel for the night, which was actually quite nice and I made some new friends. I'd had a really good time and hadn't wanted to go home anyway, so I was quite pleased about the delay, and it meant I got to spend one more day in the sunshine!

I once had 6 hours. It was a domestic flight as well, and I was trying to go home, so I had nowhere else to go. The weather got bad, and I just had to wait in the airport. I didn't want to eat as well, since the airport food is always rediculously expensive. It was the worst trip of my life, I think.

mine was 7.5 hours. (hehe i didn't beat yours but close enough.)
it was a domestic flight that should have taken off at 5 in the afternoon. i had to cancel my participation in our company's event so i could make it on-time with the flight. the flight was delayed with due cause, heavy rains both in our area and my point of destination. i was not annoyed by the delay at first, but i was very annoyed by the fact that the airline could have given an earlier advise so i could have at least finished the event before i went to the airport. we were given snacks which was nice enough but the dinner was awful. i was with the manager of one of our partner financial intitutions so we talked shop for a bit and took a short nap also. we had to cancel our dinner appointments, made sure that the hotel didn't cancel our reservations for non-show, and we had to re-book our airport pick-up.
finally we boarded past midnight. i had no recollection of the take-off coz i was too tired i fell asleep readily. i woke up at touch down at 2:00 am. we were in the hotel at 3am and we had to keep a breakfast appointment at 6am with the dean of the university that invited us to do a 3-day training for their partners.

In 1999 when I was travelling from Copenhagen to Tallinn in Estonia, and I had to wait about 8 hours. It wasn't a direct flight, I had to go the from Copenhagen to Helsinki and from Helsinki to Tallinn. The weather was terrible that day, and when I arrived at the airport in Copenhagen I was told that they weren't going to fly till the situation got better, and they couldn't tell us how long we would have to wait, because they simply didn't know. I was worried, because I was afraid that I would miss my second plane.
I waited about 4 hours in Copenhagen, and after that I was finally able to fly to Helsinki. When I arrived in Helsinki I discovered that I didn't need to worry at all, because my second plane was also delayed, and I spent most of the night at Helsinki airport. In the morning I finally arrived at Tallinn - 8 hours later than planned.

When i came from Paris to Portugal last 31 December I did wait 4 hours because our airplain had some kind of a problem while staying in Barcelona.
I was a bit scared back then, but, later the airplane arrived and we did our flight with no problems.
Also used those 4 hours to study a bit for an exame....
