I'm not against about Muslims or Islam here but I just want to know if the rumors are true? I mean france has been a Christian country and was part of the great crusade centuries ago. My friend from france told me most of the people now are Muslims so it came to my surprise that how that happen? Maybe because of tourism? or I don't know many Muslims migrate to france.

It seems that there was a big immigration of muslims in France after WWII. As many immigrants they came as blue collar workers to help with the reconstruction of France after the war. I checked at the Wikipedia about the percentage and am happy to anounce that France prohibits a census based on race or beliefs.Still, it seems the numbers are from 6% to 10% of the population.
Large numbers of people don´t change country because of tourism. They must have stronger reasons. It is interesting to remember the mass immigration of people from Ireland to the US, first for better wages and then in a famine during a potato blight. The Kennedy family came to the US that way.
Many people go to other countries when the economic or political situation of their own is not good. Many times those people make a significant contribution to the country where they go.
The Americas is an example of the importance of a mixture of races and beliefs.

Thanks for best response. And we are growing as a species. Did you know the were more that a billion people in the world dying of hunger? Check, if you are interested, a United Nations site called www.freerice.com I donate rice there by just searching the web (I did the research to answer you from there). But besides the help, there you can learn about the places in the world where there´s famine and how the United Nations help.

Where did you hear those rumours? There has been a lot of protests in France because of rules for what you can wear in public (especially schools etc), the protests have been both for and against the regulations. The percentage of muslims is between 6 and 10 %. More than half the population are catholics, there's some percent protestants, Jews etc and the rest would be atheists or agnostics.

I think more than usual because there has been an influx of immigrants the last year, and the later years there has been a lot of demonstrations from what I suppose most be second year generation immigrants, but also from young ethnic French. The parents of these immigrants have probably not been very visible, and when people walk out into the streets they suddenly seem many. I see the same here, there has been an increase in the muslim population but not so much as it seems like, it's just that the ones who have come are more visible than the ones who were here already.

Hi girlie,
How many muslims do you know? Why don´t you like them? I don´t think you should live in any other place than the country where you were born (Philipines): you´d be occupating the other land too. Stay where you are and you won´t have any trouble, I´m sure.Happy marriage!!!

From what I know, a lot of Algerian and Moroccan have planted their roots there because of the language. Also the fact that they had a strong army in the past and thus succeeded in taking over countries has and has had effect on the population mix.
I don't know whether France is mostly occupied by Muslims. But it would surprise me if they'd represent 50% or more of the population, but on the other hand nothing is impossible. ;)
