See, it's happened twice now, and the only link has been this site.
A few days back, typing away here when - ping - my screen goes blank. Reason? In had jumped the dreaded Antivirus Vista 2010 malware virus - and god was it a sod to get out. My daughter's BF installed malwarebytes, cleaned up my system, and got rid of the virus.
Result - PC was fine. Ubtil ...
I pay another visit to Mylot, happily typing away, when - ping - my screen goes blank etc. This time, it's "Vista Internet Security" that's got me raging.
The ONLY time this has happened has been here. There's got to be a connection. My pc security cost me a few bucks and up till recently it was working.
There's too many ptc scammers etc on this site (in amongst the nice people) and, I'm sorry folks but ... this place is too dangerous. I'm outta here. It's costing me too much money - a lot more than the few measly bucks I'm earning.
Anyone else notice their infection rate go up here?

I never had this problem. I know there are scammers and trolls on mylot but nothing like this has ever happen to me on Mylot! I'm sorry to hear you have so much trouble and it has only been on Mylot!I have had troubles n Mylot but for other reasons. Like being missunderstood, critized when i shouldn't of,swore at,taken advantage of and insulted! I have many times thought of leaving but I refuse to give up! I hope you don't either!

Yes, the same thing happened to me, Windows Vista Security popped up and everything
The worst thing was that it was telling me WHAT viruses I had, and how terrible they were, but refused to get rid of them until I paid up. And since my computer was infected, I was unable to connect to the internet
Hopefully, MyLot's recent maintenance time has sorted everything out, otherwise I'm going on hiatus

i have finally figured out from friends that its not mylot. some friendson facebook thats not on mylot have had the same problem. also, many, many people have been having this same problem just recently. it seems theres a scam artist/artists/hackers going around getting unsuspecting people to go for this. its just another virus going around thats worse then others.

The worst that's ever happened to me on here would be my screen freezing up for a couple of minutes. It was annoying as all get out; I had to close out the site and then bring it back up again. Aside from that, I haven't had any major viruses on here.

Sorry that it happened to you. I have never had that happen to me at least so far. I have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, and so far no problesm whatsoever. I have been here since April of last year, and I can honestly say, I have never had a virus from here, or MIcrosoft would have caught it. I have been on other sites and I will get a warning about amalware, but not here, and it cleans up my computer and never had any effects from it. I hate to see you go, but if you feel you must then I do wish you the best in everything that you do. Take care, and God bless you.

hello Jazzsure58 i think i can help you with this problem (i know alot about computers)
First of all if it is a ping attack (more known as a dos attack or ddos attack) someone is remotetly doing it, they are attacking you through a computer port (probably if you think it is from mylot, the internet port your Internet browser uses) so first of all, please try using a proxy to see if that helps, if it is not that get a special scanner and scan for rootkits or something alike, that could also be the problem.
It seems to me someone has your I.P so change it as soon as possible.
Your Truely
Dark Void

Oh no!Not at all!I haven/t experienced any thing like what you have said related to this site, mylot.I have been here for more than a year and no,i didn't face any problem as you have told.I think it is your vista,a failure of Microsoft causing all this trouble.Better you access this site with XP.

I have been on mylot for a while now and I have never had a problem with the site, I hate to say it but I don't think it's mylot I think it is your computer. I am sure that you know that you take a risk any time that you go on the net and unfortunately there are some viruses that get in despite whatever security programs you may have. I can't speak for everyone but I know that I will be sad to see you go. Best wishes.

Wow that is bad! So does it means, you aren't gonna comment back on us anymore??? I have not encounter any virus from mylot... and hpefully never. So what discussion you were working on when this thing happened? This is really serious. Why not send a support ticket to admin or to alice (moderator of mylot). I believe this matter must be brought to their attention jazzsue58.
Mylot is a fun and great site. This should not be happening. This must be fixed if the virus that infected your computer twice was really from mylot.

I posted a thread a while back about viruses and trojans on MyLot - so yes, I've noticed it too.
Someone replied, suggesting that I run NoScript (in Firefox). I'm also on XP, rather than Vista, and I think it's more secure. Since then - fingers crossed - I've had no issues.
But I do agree that MyLot needs to sort something out.

Wow such a drastic measure! I'm new here so I don't know much, but could it have come from other sites you've been in or the other people in your household?
Just asking, I'm just hoping I don't get any.
I hope you figure it out without having to blacklist this site.

Geez... A week ago, my colleague got a similar spyware known as the Internet Security 2010 malware. I did a search on the Internet and managed to find a remedy to the problem, which was a series of steps to be executed to eliminate the malware. I followed the instructions and finally suceeded. As to your problem, jazzsue58, I suggest you pay a visit to this link as follows. As far as I'm concerned, my laptop has never been infected with any kind of viruses, spywares, or malwares, by visiting myLot. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-antivirus-vista-2010
