Reading is very essential. You will read literally every day of your life.. in some form or another. IF you can't read or don't read very well, you will have problems. Most people think that reading is solely for books... well, how many traffic signs do you read every day? How many text messages, how many items on a menu, how many sale tags do you read every day? YOu gotta be able to read your tax forms! You read alot and if you aren't good at it, you will miss so much. I love reading books too...takes you on an adventure you won't be able to go on in real life, so enjoy the book!

I forgot to mention... so much reading needed everyday.. it am shocked that reading is not emphasised more in schools, especially high school. Kids these days graduate high school with a reading level of the 8th grade at best. That is sad. Schools push all kinds of non necessary things, but reading...never seems to be a major issue to them.

IT also enriches the mind and keeps the brain working so as not to lose what has been stored over time. Its stimulates the imagination too.

Yea reading! I mean come on - if it weren't for reading, you wouldn't be able to know what I'm saying right now! Reading books is probably the most important thing one can do during idle time to expand one's opinions and knowledge of the world that is around us. Yet, sadly many would rather watch t.v. or play games. Entertainment is an important tool for us to relieve stress as well as a means to socialize with others. Unfortunately, it seems we now live in an era of excess entertainment. I just hope we don't all end up like that movie Idiocracy! mmmm Gatorade does have what plants crave: electrolytes! I'm going to read a book right now!

There isn't too much to discuss here since I agree with the statement you have made. Reading is very important in expanding ones knowledge, or just for entertainment as well if you just want to relieve some stress.
