i just came back from my annual vacation. but before leaving India and returning back to work, we are oblige to do the phase I medical check up. to my astonishment, the doctor found out that my heartbeat has a rhythm at the end of its beat. so she then referred me to a cardiologist for ECG. i'm a little bit shock when she said about the abnormal heartbeat findings.
as of now i can't feel any effect of this findings but i'm afraid this could harm my health in the future. i know that i am physically fit to work and i am strong and i don't understand how this thing happened.
i used to smoke moderately like maximum of 5 sticks of cigarrete a day. occasionally drinker like once a month and i don't think this simple and light habits could trigger more. however, i want to ask you fellow mylotters if anyone had been from this and how did you treat it. or is there any precautions.
doctor's consultation fee here in saudi arabia is very costly. it is almost half of my monthly salary lol and i am thinking practically that thru your help and suggestions i can lessen my worries and definitely will do your advices.
thank you.

There are benign murmers caused by the prolapse of the mitral valve which is a birth defect and can be contained without much ado. I have it and I am managing it quite well save for some discomfort which my doc. says is harmless. If your blood count is normal and you have no other symptoms take it as a situation that happens to a few people. All the same get yourself thoroughly checked for any other possible causes.

i have never been into this situation and findings when i was younger. this is really a big stroke to my fate learning the any posibilities that might happen if i won't take the check ups which is a big thing for me to consider. anyway, just like you have said, i would really get thoroughly checked when i got the means.
thanks and i really appreciate your comment.

The symptoms never manifest earlier on. Even in my case it was just recently because of some palpitation brought on by some sad news that my family doc discovered this to my relief.

Hearth murmurs or S3'S and S4's are rarely heard and indicative of cardiac problems. Sometimes it is also due to hereditary factors especially s4's which are inevitable and are worsen thru lifestyle. My advice to you is to stop smoking or at least minimize, and also light exercises hence not too heavy once, a healthy and normal body weight because s3's are commonly caused by congestive heart failures due to obesity and diabetes mellitus. You could actually heart it thru a stethoscope which is very affordable and note the difference, compare your heart sounds to other people's heart sounds and monitor it regularly.

thanks. you just gave me a better idea. actually i don't like exercising less. it will just give a heart palpitation. i walk briskly and that is day to day basis 1 hour after my supper. i walk 2 hours until i burned the food that i intake. this is good for me as i don't have any trouble breathing when i sleep. actually i have a lot of gas and heartburn and i just found that walking makes me feel better..

hi kumar1232009 the smoking might have triggered it but if you do
not smoke now I would think you would be okay. I have had a heart murmur, what the cardiologist called a benign condition, for a number of years now but no more symptoms and I feel okay so I do not think you need worry about it. just keep healthy ,do not gain a lot of weight, keep slim and active and also keep your blood pressure normal, you should have no more trouble. The doctor said to me that he thought I had always had this murmur since I had scarlet fever as a child and to just keep healthy and I would have no problems. Kumar,I am 83 if that will put your mind at ease.do keep your weight where it belongs and keep happy, and eat healthy foods and you will be fine, just fine.
