I don't watch American Idol.
I don't like most of the songs the contestants sing when they're sung by the real artists.
But now a couple of weeks ago we have a musical phenomenon.
Some no name hack auditioned and sang what he claims was his own song....I of course am talking about the song? "Pants On The Ground"
Now this song has become a world wide sensation, everybody's buzzing about it, there was rumors floating around that it was going to be performed at the Grammys, there other musical artists who are just a level or two above the guy that sang the song who are now claiming THEY wrote it.
When it first came out there were people all over Facebook and other places just peeing themselves with excitement...."OMG I just love pants on the ground"
It was mentioned numerous times on the news and various entertainment shows, It was splashed all over the internet.
Now I must admit, I never really listened to the song, I just heard the first few lines from what I've seen on TV, so today, I gave it a listen......
I was waiting for something I could compare to Led Zeppelin, or The Beatles, or Run D.M.C. or some other big name musical talent....
WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP!!!
It's not even a song!!! those first few lines I had heard? THAT WAS THE WHOLE THING!
The guy just keeps repeating the same crap over and over and he doesn't even sing, he just yells the lyrics......no melody......just CRAP!!!
I don't get it........this is a musical sensation?
Is it because a certain group says it's "awesome" so people that follow this certain group think "it must be awesome"
Are people tone deaf now days?
Am I just not cool?

I think the song is hilarious. It s not a song and he is not a singer. I don't watch Idol and I didn't watch Grammy. Today, after reading your discussion I was listening to the song...or rather same line over and over....
parody of RAP...

He was probably the first American Idol audition train wreck that actually got a record deal for being so ridiculously bad. His broken English ( he was Asian ) hacked up anything he tried to sing. It was like nails on a chalk board to me, & yet he sold CDs & even made a Christmas collection ( which I hope to never hear ).

Hey sconi~ I think you are just not looking at this in the right
frame of mind. I don't mean to be a b-buster since we are
usually on the same thought train, but this dude is an older
man who actually just came out with a cute little "diddy"
that just caught on! It has nothing to do with musical talent
so get that part out of your mind first! It is just a cute little
"jingle/rap" that was performed by an older man that was kind
of catchy and the guy caught some peoples attention! Don't
be a "hater"! It is by no means a genius talented musical
arrangement! Just a quite little rap by and old man who just
happened to catch the hearts of alot of people! I, personally
thought it was cute and funny! Don't be a hater, let him have
his 15 minutes and he will go away a happy old man! I still
loves you sconi! Peace Out! (And he's right about those guys
wearing their damn pants around their ankles, and that bugs
the sh1t out of me too! (Here me Lil'Wayne)

I don't think it's catchy as much as it's highly annoying........but everybody has their own taste in music.......so enjoy.

Well of course we all have different tastes in music....I always thought mine was pretty varied, I think I can find something I enjoy from most genres, but that song isn't even music, there's no talent involved other than the guy remembered the totally awful words to yell them at his audition.
But now everybody is like "Oh what a great song. We are in awe of such a musical deity!"
Gimme a break........I just don't get it.

What you listen to for music or how you dress or anything of that nature is not what makes a person "cool" or "uncool". Coolness is a state of mind. Look around you and find someone that you think is truly cool. I am willing to bet that person is confident enough to be different and think for himself. A really cool person could care less about being cool and does not care what others think.

Hi sconi, I haven't heard of the song. And I probably won't like it now that I've read your opinion about it. Believe me, your opinions outpower Simon's!

There is nothing wrong with you, I don't watch American Idol either, for me it is just a bunch of people trying to take a shortcut to the fame, instead of focusing in increase their abilities and follow the same path that everybody else have to follow. Besides the songs they sing, are songs that were very famous interpreted but really important artist of the last 50 years. Those songs have been immortalized by those artists and when someone else sing them doesn't look so good, especially if the person is an amateur. I think the whole TV in this country is an epidemic of reality shows.
